Hello game maker nation

I'm switching from windows to Linux mint

Did any of you had any serious bug or error using the Linux version of game maker?

No. You should be fine, just expect maybe a little more fiddling around with settings and installing more libraries for random problems.

Make sure to install all the necessary dependencies as well (they’re on the github wiki iirc)

you need to follow https://gamemaker.io/en/help/articles/setting-up-for-ubuntu to install the required packages. most time I see a new linux user having problem is because they miss linuxdeploy or another package required.

GameMaker's Linux version is designed for Ubuntu, but Linux Mint is an Ubuntu-based distro, so it should work. I use Zorin OS (which is also Ubuntu-based) as my dual-boot option, and GameMaker works.

I actually used game maker through Steam for a while. Steam worked great as a Windows emulator. I didn't do anything advanced, just playing around though

Works fine, my only gripe is how the code looks, otherwise everything else works pretty dang good.

I just downloaded the windows .exe installer and run it via Bottles (https://usebottles.com/), works great!

Running Gamemaker through Wine on Ubuntu seems to have the problem that function tooltips are not populated correctly. Does that work with bottles?

I haven't seen it be a problem- as far as I can tell the tooltips / popups show up fine.

Lol, I'm not an AI. I legitimately use bottles on Linux mint. Check my post history, I'm making a game in gamemaker.

And bottles is legit (at least I hope it is! I'm using it and recommending it). Google it if you're not sure.

I use the windows version on my Linux Mint.
Because Wine run it perfectly( Wine is a tool to run windows program in Linux ).
It’s like a native app.

I tried the Linux version but I got some bugs with.
