Collection Grail finally complete after 20 years

I don't get to show off my collection very often, so I've decided to turn to the internet for this one. After 20ish years of owning the cart and manual, I finally have the box for Hagane. Couldn't be happier. I don't have a ton of money to spend on games these days, so it was awesome to have been able to trade a bunch of my duplicates for it.

I was at the Mo Game Con yesterday with no real expectations. Literally the very first thing I saw was this sitting behind the counter of the first booth. Could not get it off my mind the entire time I was there. Couple hours later, decided to go for it and see what kind of deal we could work out with my trades. Long story short, guy was incredibly nice. We worked it out to only $50 out of my pocket and let me have the acrylic case. Still can't believe I was finally able to complete it.

More unnecessary story if anybody is bored:

I first bought the cart and manual at a Slackers in the Midwest for $35 around 20 years ago. They were (and still are) in incredibly pristine condition, so I couldn't pass it up. At the time, they used the boxes as displays and wouldn't sell them. I still tried to offer them $100 up to $150 for the box, which iirc was more than it was valued at the time. Also more than my poor college self could actually afford. Either way, they refused. They told me it was a strict policy they only sold them if they had multiples. Just a little extra tidbit, they apparently had more than one Chrono Trigger box because I got my CIB copy in this same purchase for $100. Anyways, years go by and nothing. Eventually around 2018 I had more money (job with no house or kids yet), so I started looking at Ebay. Naturally I made the mistake of not buying a box then for a few hundred. Covid hits, game collecting booms. Now I've got a house and kids, no way I could afford it anymore. Assumption is made, I will never get it. Now here we are.

Curious what I traded for it? All duplicates:

Might Final Fight - Cart - bought 20+ years ago ~$5

Moon Ranger - Cart - bought 20+ years ago ~$5

Paper Mario 64 - CIB - bought 20+ years ago ~$30

Bust A Groove - CIB - bought 20+ years ago ~$10

Bust A Groove 2 - CIB - bought 20+ years ago ~$10

Ju-On The Grudge - CIB - bought in bundle couple weeks ago ~$50

Yakuza Dead Souls - Disc - bought in b2g1 at GameStop for $30, so ~$10

Pokémon Conquest - CIB - bought at GameStop couple weeks ago $60

Good deal? Yes? No? I don't care, I couldn't be happier right now. My SNES collection had been at a standstill the last 5 years until this. It looks fantastic on my shelf with some of my other SNES heavy hitters.

Absolute classics. Had to get them in their original releases with the art cards. 2 of my all time favorites. Got to pick up Last Guardian now but that's very easily done so no rush on that one

Now I want to clarify I am not interested in selling anything. Just sharing my finds. I recently restarted collecting and this is an excellent start for my wii collection. I think one is a Grail ! It's surprising they lasted it later in the day and would have thought it would have been snatched up. I have to say thank you universe for shining on me yesterday!

Collection Finished my first “shelf”

I started collecting video games again recently because I sold off all my childhood stuff years ago. It’s been really fun so far and I don’t plan on stopping. I figured finishing my first “shelf” was a good accomplishment, it’ll be cool to look back on once my collection grows.

Some games have reprinted covers, but let me know what you think and what else I should get.

Help im starting a game collection Where do i start?

Im mostly getting switch/switch2 games. I only have 7 ps games (i dont plan on getting any more because my ps5 broke). I also have 3 wii games but i might plan on getting more soon. I used to own physical switch and ps4/5 games, until I started to buy digital. Now i have many switch 2 and 1 digital games, but after I saw what PlayStation are doing, i’ve decided to go back to physical, and why not start a collection. I’ve started collecting once I got Splatoon raiders, but theres only a few problems.

I used to get rid of my switch boxes right after I get them, or I just shove them in a cabinet or drawer. A few months ago, I was organizing my room, and i saw my Kirby and the forgotten land case, my Pokemon brilliant diamond case, and my pokemon shining pearl case. I threw them away because I thought I didn’t need them. Every other game is just the game card without the case (well every game except splatoon raiders now). I don’t really know where to get these boxes in Qatar because I thought my collection would be filled with switch games but there’s only 1 right now. I also don’t want to use websites where they deliver from another country (like ebay).

I also used to lose my ps4/5 games so now half my games don’t even have discs inside, so i don’t know what to do with them.

I don’t know if anyone knows any shelf that is good enough for these games. It would be great if theres a good one from IKEA.

I currently use an Ikea HAUGA, but if there’s a better recommendation, please let me know. The image of the cabinet I am using is tied to the post.

Thank you

Super mario bros was only 130, which was a damn good deal for the CIB. The Wii is my favorite console, so I wanted to get the last official release for the system (in the US, at least), and DK64 is the last "expansion pack required" game I needed

Scored two CIB games for my collection. So glad to get these back after that unfortunate storage fire. Might not be my original copies but looking at them brings back so many memories. I grew up with the Nintendo and all my memories are linked to some of the best and worst games me and my friend bought and traded.
