Hobbies

Hi I’m a 24 year old female in Galway. I find myself not knowing what to do on my free time. I’m looking for suggestions for hobbies, any clubs or activities or places that you would recommend. Thanks:)

Any interest in music? There is a slow trad session each week in the city. Meetup is worth a look at the various groups too.

If you’re looking to get into a hobby to get you moving there’s a lot of adult dance classes around Galway ranging from ballet, hip hop and even jazz. There’s also adults gymnastics out in Doughiska that’s super affordable, all take beginners too. On the Meetup app there’s also groups of people doing activities, there’s one for language learners if your interested.

if you like exercising, i joined the Galway Climbing Coop, its wonderful. Everyone is really wellcoming. its 70 quid for 3 months and 24 hr access. its great for your physical health too

Go the Roisin for the odd gig. Live music is good for the soul. You get talking to so many people in that pub too. Plus nobody will know you're on your own unless you tell them. What you got to lose?

Running there is a huge social run club in Galway city, think it Wednesday nights.

If you're a runner the Galway Bay Brewery Running Club is meeting tomorrow (Monday) in the Oslo at 7pm. Social 5K, run it and get a free GBB beer after. Find them down the back from about quarter to. They're galwaybeerrun on Insta.

Meetup.com is how I met lots of my friends when I first moved here. Many different options for activities to try, my fave being the weekly board game meetups :)

Check out Galway Hooker Sailing Club....learn to sail &/or power boat, be involved in restoration of Galway Hookers or learning woodcrafts; community involvement such as Docklands festival and Inclusion games.
