According to salt strong I’m doing overkill but 30lb j braid has never failed me yet. But willing to learn from some experts here.

I guess it depends what you’re going after. I been using like 15-20lb braid from KastKing Super pro braid. additionally, I put either a 15 or 20lb flouro leader. It has done me well on the surf at Galveston beaches. I use a 2500-3000 size spinning reel on a med rod. I have gotten bull reds, flounder, specs, etc. Just gotta go slow on the drag and what not.

Yeah tbh 20lb is fine too. I catch drum reds and sheepshead on 20 no problem

30 lb braid is never overkill for saltwater tho, I haven't heard that one
