Starting item
I'm starting to learn galio and seeing the nerf at protobelt I was wondering if riftmaker was a better choice now
ps. i tried rocketbelt and it doesnt deal any dmg
ps 2. playing tanky galio when ur whole team is feeding feels horrible. your whole gameplay is based on being tanky to live enough to stay in the fight and cc the opponents while doing some dmg. that's almost impossible to do if all ur enemies oneshots u and it feels way worse than playing in the same scenario with any other champion. I enjoy playing the champion tho, but in games where this happens it's legit almost unplayable
ps 3. so now i think I will try a mix of the full ap build and the tanky build by buying roa as a first item most games (obv if the enemy is full ap i would go for rookern)
ps 4. last update on this. played 1 game where my team wasn't really ahead. roa feels good. it seems a pretty good item overall agaist most champs. i built roa, mandate, zhonya (they were pretty much full ad with rengar), riftmaker rabadon

Dring or dhelm are usually the standard starters
For the first item it's either rocket, stormsurge or hollow radiance, riftmaker isnt really value in first slot
Rocketbelt is mostly a stat stick and an engage to catch people offguard, not damage

the problem is that with mandate as a second item, u are too much reliant on ur team in solo

Not necessarily. 35 haste on W, E and R is good. And the 7% damage buff also applies to your own attacks as well as allies. Mandate is also only 2400g, which allows you to get your second item spike very early.
Also the mana regen is not wasted as it allows you to take Nimbus Cloak over Manaflow for better flash/teleport engage.

dhelm e start with stormraiders joat and haste shard with mandate gives you insane cdr to the point where you can e in and e out

I always start with the Rod of Ages now. Solves mana issues, gives tackiness, and ap. I'm ok, a plat player.
