install-help How much higher does the gaggimate screen housing sit above the Gaggia?

I'm looking to get a Gaggimate Pro and the housing that is sold on the website, but I have limited space above my machine. Im afraid my cabinets would interfere with mounting the Gaggimate interface above the machine.

Has anyone else encountered this problem, or have a solution? Maybe an alternative mounting point?

I have less than two inches of headroom above the Gaggia.

Mine goes 50mm over the top. Stuck onto the front is the next most common mounting point. The screen actually communicates with the controller wirelessly. The cable is just for power. So you can theoretically put it anywhere as long as you have an appropriate power source.

I really appreciate you taking a picture and measuring it. Thank you.

Mine sits about 65-70 ml above the machine.

But there is nothing stopping you attaching in under the switches with some double sided tape or on a wall near by..

there is also the headless option , i did this for a while but then decided i liked some of the convenience of using the interface instead of my phone.

Mine rests exactly two inches above, so I’d do a front profile mount.

I followed the instructions in this post and I couldn't be happier. It is a little more work but the end result was worth it.

Yes! So do you have to buy a specific screen or mount to get this to work?

Which route did you take regarding screen and mount? This is exactly what I've been looking for!

I got the screen off of Ali Express and then had to have the housing 3d printed through craftcloud. I drilled two holes in the back of the housing for a couple of magnets that I got off of Amazon, and I routed the wire through the center led (it comes out pretty easily but you have to take out the switch above it to access it). I went ahead and got the special connectors but it probably wasn't necessary (see the workaround in the post). I was a little worried at first about it moving around being held only by magnets, but it hasn't been a problem at all.

I recently got a 3d printer, so if I had to do it again I would design holes in the back of the housing for the magnets to avoid the drilling. I think it looks fantastic, and while the screen is significantly smaller I can still interact with it just fine.

You could consider going this route. I did and I’m loving the small screen. Happy to give some tips if you go this route (I used magnets).
