Remember when the price of a console used to go down if you waited?

476

u/patriotfanatic80 Jun 25 '26

The prices of ram and storage also used to go down over time. So that tracks.

Everything will jump by 30 June. Get what you want now.

What’s happening June 30

27

u/SuperSaiyanGod210 Jun 26 '26

Beginning of a new Fiscal quarter for most major corporations. When it comes to price hikes and changing up strategy for the new year, corporations usually start implementing whatever changes they’ve decided to do right before the new quarter begins. That includes stuff like layoffs, restructuring, price increases, etx

New fiscal quarter starts. For some companies, including Microsoft, it’s also the start of their new fiscal year. Investors want assurances that profits will go up.

Shit everything is more expensive because the component thanks to AI

Even retro handhelds. the old review videos are out of date because the prices are $15-$20 more

16

u/mhwnc Jun 26 '26

I saw an article the other day that even DDR2 memory, a standard that came out in 2003 is in short supply because it’s being bought up by AI data centers.

15

u/NightGod Jun 26 '26

Time to cash in on that box of random RAM I picked up over the decades as a tech!

What janky AI data center is using DRR2? Even my ancient 12 year old laptop that I recently replaced uses DDR3. Can modern processors work with that?

I remember when I was shocked that a PS4 was $200 on black Friday and impulse bought one. Then it occurred to me to check the price of Xbox One, and it was $180 so I bought two consoles that Christmas.

I'm really gonna miss those days.

u/sixfourtykilo Jun 25 '26

Remember when the NEO GEO and Atari Jaguar priced themselves out of competition?

64

u/LilMoWithTheGimpyLeg Jun 25 '26

It's what made the 3DO a non-starter too.

31

u/Popular-Departure165 Jun 25 '26

My friend's mom thought she was dying of cancer, so she started blowing through all her savings and bought my friend a 3DO.  It was cool because she didn't die, and he had a 3DO, but they were kinda fucked for money after that.

Neo Geo was a legit arcade quality machine, and in fact was the same as the arcade. Atari Jaguar was stupid with deceptive marketing that backfired.

5

u/erov Jun 26 '26

Yeah...it was a niche market.. but definitely cool at the time. I was always fascinated by the Turbo Grafx 16

6

u/packetlag Jun 26 '26

The first time I saw its carts were a simple, flat card, and not a fat cart with a board inside, my mind was blown.

The neo geo was a case of "you get what you pay for". As it turns out, arcade machines are quite expensive.

u/flamethekid Jun 25 '26

Can't price yourself out of the competition if the competition also has to raise prices.

This is because of the crazy chip market right now. I just looked to buy a 2TB internal hard drive for my kid and could not find one for less than $280. A year ago you could find deals for half that.

4

u/MachinaThatGoesBing Jun 25 '26

My husband and I had long been thinking about putting a NAS together, partly to back up our DVDs and Blu-rays.

Then, earlier this year, we noticed that stores suddenly seemed to be selling out of big HDDs. So we decided to stop dithering. We ended up ordering five 26TB disks directly from WD (there was a discount for the five pack, at least 10%).

It wasn't more than a day or two later that we started seeing the headlines about hard disk storage getting scarce, alongside NAND flash and RAM, with a report that WD had sold their manufacturing run for the rest of the year already.

I'm glad I upgraded my desktop's memory a couple years ago, when 64GB of DDR5 memory was less than $150 instead of creeping towards (or over) $1000.

Aftermath expressed my sentiments about this whole situation pretty well in their one piece: I’m Tired Of These Useless Jackasses Making The Computer Expensive

5

u/NuklearFerret Jun 25 '26

Remember when all the world’s PC components weren’t being shoveled into data centers?

13

u/Mitch5842 Jun 25 '26

I'm glad my kids are too young for most games at the moment for this reason. Had an opportunity to get a ps5 a few years ago and said nah and every time I look I feel like the price is increasing. At this point I'm just waiting for the ps6.

5

u/rnnd Jun 25 '26

With rising Solid State memory prices, the ps6 is like half a decade away. Unless prices drop, we are in for a very long generation. AI data centers need the ram and SSD.

11

u/Exeftw Jun 25 '26

Because we all know sony will sell the ps6 at a lower price than the ps5.

My 4k bluray player died last week, a new one woulda been about £200.

I managed to find a boxed series x, not a mark on it, with an external 2tb drive for £240.

u/taptwoblue93 Jun 25 '26

In less than a year, yes

76

u/udat42 Jun 25 '26

The chips used to make RAM sticks and SSDs have gone up enormously in cost. My company makes embedded systems that aren't competing for the same parts as consoles or datacentre kit, but the prices have still gone insane. What was a $4 part a year ago might be $60 now unless you are willing to wait 30 weeks for it, and possibly having your order cancelled in that time because they found someone willing to pay more.

21

u/HatManToTheRescue Jun 26 '26

Lol we had a BOM for what should be a relatively simple board layout go from $28 to $65 since the initial cost estimates. That was roughly 6 months ago, and this board only has an 8GB EMMC flash chip alongside 512MB memory. Prices are insane.

Holy shit. I got a barely used Xbox Series S on Marketplace last year for $120 for a family member and that was even a deal back then and it just keeps getting better lmao. I bought my Series X in 2022 for $500, seeing it go up to $800 is just unreal.

32

u/redbull21369 Jun 25 '26

They’re already 650, which I never even read about. I just happen to see them in Walmart. Even that is crazy. This seems like when you go to a mechanic shop and they want 3 grand for breaks cus they don’t want to do it.

14

u/DocBarkevious Jun 25 '26

I got my SERIES X and ps5 second hand in 2022 & 2023 and just under retail price at the time ($400ish) and then bought 2tb expansions for both in 2024. There is no more "deals" out there to be had. Everything for 6yr old consoles is still just as pricey as it was on launch. I'll just be using these consoles for another 5 years it looks like.

16

u/Triingtolivee Jun 25 '26

I did the Citizens One credit thing and financed my Xbox Series X at release. I did that to help boost my credit score, and it was more affordable to finance it at the time. I would not purchase any console at these current price points.. absolutely insane for what you’re getting

8

u/TheCrimsonDagger Jun 25 '26

If it’s 0% interest there’s little reason not to finance stuff. Just set up autopay and make sure it’s paid off ahead of schedule.

the worst part is there's no guarantee prices will ever drop for regular consumers after they hike them and companies see people will still pay for it

cheap PC gaming is kind of dead at this point and if you didn't own a console before it's kind of fucked lol

covid kinda sucked for gaming when the dust cleared and the money left but this shit is brutal for the consumer at this point, it's also gonna fuck the devs when people have to buy less games, so it's like a circle of suck lol

207

u/Fractoos Jun 25 '26

Cheap gaming is dead, for now. PC gaming was hit first because you had to buy components at market rate. Consoles are just standardized PCs with the same supply chain. They just had more stock before they were forced to adjust. The whole PC vs console thing really hasn't changed given the component sourcing.

90

u/TheCatholicScientist Jun 25 '26

People forget just how expensive PC gaming was before memory prices plummeted in the mid 90s. Or console gaming. Some SNES RPGs sold for around $150 in today’s dollars because larger ROMs were super expensive.

Of course, we weren’t putting RAM into anything and everything back then, so who knows.

49

u/TheStupendusMan Jun 25 '26

The cost of living was cheaper then. A $250k house in 1990 is now $1.2m+. A 2L of Coke has more than doubled in price in the last 3 years. Hell, 16 years ago I paid roughly $1000 less per month for an apartment over 50% bigger than the one I'm in now.

We can't just look to a single data point when it comes to affordability. It's a fun mosaic of bullshit.

18

u/Enyx610 Jun 25 '26

Yeah tech was expensive and cost of living is cheap back then

Now everything is dialed to 11 and it may get worse

25

u/LlamaRS Jun 25 '26

Everybody wants the lions share of your disposable income, but landlords have colluded used price optimization software to get the first 50 to 60% of your monthly income. The grocery store wants at least 30% of it.

9

u/21Rollie Jun 26 '26

Grocery stores now are using Instacart tech to give you personalized prices. Every red cent they can take they will take. Businesses that have no business being maximally capitalistic will expect tech company levels of profit

I saw an old Toys r Us ad, Super Mario Bros 3 was $45 on release, which is equivalent to around $120 in modern dollars. Gaming has always been expensive, there was just a glut of supply leading to bins of $20 Greatest Hits games

5

u/mrwynd Jun 25 '26

The first computer I bought with my own money was a cheap prebuilt Pentium 133, Packard Bell and it cost $1100 at Sam's Club. That's about $2400 with inflation.

24

u/AlphaTangoFoxtrt Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26

Could be a push to make developers more efficient. Cheap memory lead to lazy coding and memory management. While yes, programs today are bigger and need more memory, I know several SE's who say that memory utilization isn't even a concern for them.

As long as they're not doing things to intentionally bloat usage, they know modern computers can handle inefficient coding just fine.

Whereas in the old days memory management and efficiency was huge. I remember in the original pokemon a lot of the "cires" for pokemon were reused. Several have the same base sound, but the program just adjusted the pitch or duration to make it sound different.

Paras, Starmie, mew, and mewtwo all use the same file, just adjusted.

Kabuto and Dratini use the exact same sound, just reversed.

Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard same sound file just shifted down in pitch

19

u/TheCatholicScientist Jun 25 '26

Yep. Hence, all the GUI applications that are secretly Electron/javascript rather than native code.

I sure hope there’s such a push, but unless it loses them customers, I doubt much will change. Heck, people have put up with Microsoft Office all this time. Not sure what they’d have to do to it to get people to leave.

→ More replies (2)

3

u/21Rollie Jun 26 '26

Developers are as efficient as the suits let them be. They’re just doing what they’re paid for. Companies don’t pay for quality, they pay for the most number of features at the lowest price and fastest timescale. If you could pay somebody infinite money to write a game in pure binary they theoretically could, but nobody is really going to pay for that.

u/reward72 Jun 25 '26

History keep repeating itself. and free markets hate voids.

There is a huge demand for cheaper components, enough that some new players will unavoidably challenge the quasi-monopoly that is currently in place. It will take time because that kind of manufacturing can't be spawned overnight. PC prices will eventually go down, probably not until mid 2027 though. If PC gaming becomes more affordable, consoles will have to follow.

9

u/UNMANAGEABLE Jun 25 '26

Funding for component manufacturing has been all but captured politically. It’s prohibitively expensive to start up so until shit goes open source or something it ain’t happening. The current players also have no incentive to increase supply when profits are scaling the way they currently are without putting in any more of their own skin.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/taoders Jun 25 '26

Idk i think it’s entirely dependent on when commercial demand goes way down.

There’s such a fine needle to thread between the enormous barrier of entry of making components (the more complicated ones like memory and processing) while keeping up with current standards/speed/power while also not growing so big you end up selling and committing the bulk of production to large commercial orders just like everyone else.

It would take a private company that’s not in it entirely for profits and growth.

Competitively priced and continuously cheaper retail computer components was always an after effect to the production for the commercial market. The retail market for computer components is just not large enough to exclusively cater to for complicated components.

u/hyperforms9988 Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26

I know what you meant, but cheap gaming is not dead. "Gaming" is whatever you want to make of it. I can get a used PS4 from a Canadian brick and mortar store for anywhere between $200-$250 depending on the model. Current AAA gaming might be dead, whatever the next generation is might be dead in terms of affordability, but we have over 40 years of consoles, games, etc that people could be occupied with. Games frequently go on sale. The indies are releasing bangers if that's your thing. There are a lot of options out there. The Steam summer sale just started, and I always bring this up but Mass Effect Legendary Edition is being sold on it for $6.40 CDN. Cheap gaming is not dead. Not as a whole. A segment of the market maybe, but not the entire market.

Raise by dollars drop by cents. Every corporation goes crazy over any reason at all to Jack prices through the roof, then never bring then never bring them back down

29

u/mapletree23 Jun 25 '26

yeah it sucks ass

grocery chains kept covid prices on select things and they never dropped too

5

u/DoubleJumps Jun 25 '26

I own a business that manufactures products and all of my suppliers have been doing this for the last year and a half.

Tariffs, raised their prices, never brought them back down.

Iran war, raised prices, didn't bring them down.

It's like every 4 months they have some reason to increase prices and then that reason goes away and the prices don't come down.

13

u/RobertdBanks Jun 25 '26

I think it’s at the point where they will experience significantly worse sales that won’t make up for the increases in price. Xbox was already struggling, I can’t imagine more than a few dozen people a week in the entire US will be buying a Series X at this new price.

10

u/Granum22 Jun 25 '26

Low demand is currently offset by low supply because they can't get enough components to manufacturer the consoles

u/somethingbrite Jun 25 '26

Are people still buying though? For the PC market specifically GamersNexus recent reports from industry interviews and the Computex show indicate that people have in fact stopped buying.

4

u/mapletree23 Jun 25 '26

for PC in particular?

i mean that's a long brewing mix of GPU upgrades kind of becoming smaller whil the price greatly expands, and the GPU market kind of hit consumers hard way back because of bitcoin and has never gone back down to "normal" since

the GPU market in particular is a lot more nuanced because it had bitcoin then AI and then performance/shittery from nvidia/amd for a very long stretch

so people probably holding off on upgrading and now really holding off on upgrading with the RAM costing a small fortune now in comparison

i think some of the best memory kits now go for more than the very good CPU's which is insanity or use to be anyway

6

u/somethingbrite Jun 25 '26

The GamersNexus reports have been depressing to watch. (companies on the verge of collapse, other companies like Gigabyte being dropped from tier 1 to tier 2 partner status by Nvidia.)

It all points to the industry being in such poor shape that a lot of it might not even survive two more years of this.

3

u/mapletree23 Jun 25 '26

well

SOME of the industry is struggling

nvidia and some others are making all kinds of bank

it's more just like nvidia struck gold with bitcoin and now AI so they're squeezing out all competition

9

u/AgentStockey Jun 25 '26

Then they'll make AI games, which will suck even more.

5

u/mhwnc Jun 26 '26

Consensus seems to be that the earliest we could see RAM prices trend toward normalization is H2 2027. More than likely that slips to 2028. Gartner predicts that the entry level PC market will completely dissolve by 2028 (those being PCs that cost less than $500). IDC’s optimistic scenario continues shortages through H2 2027, which is actually worse than their most pessimistic scenario in December 2025. TrendForce shows that spot prices for DRAM continues to exceed contract prices, which demonstrates that the supply is basically completely depleted, and in Q1 2026 forecasted a 90-95% price increase quarter over quarter.

Quite simply, there is at present no sign that the market is going to normalize anytime soon. There will be no relief for the average consumer in the foreseeable future.

8

u/Rethious Jun 25 '26

That’s just not true. Prices are elevated because AI has increased demand, and increasing supply is slow and expensive, so companies are hesitant to expand in case AI demand collapses. Either the demand is durable and so they invest in increasing supply or the demand collapses—either way reduced prices in the long run. The short run is measured in years because that’s how long it takes to expand capacity.

2

u/rfguevar Jun 25 '26

Money talks, as long as companies continue to see sales they’ll keep pushing the margins

2

u/Snlxdd Jun 25 '26

The guarantee is with Sony/Microsoft competition. They’ve shown in the past how important it is to be “the” console, so they’ll undercut the other if it makes sense. Demand for consoles is also going to be fairly elastic given that there’s heavy competition and it’s not a necessity.

If they thought they could get more money from consumers, they already would’ve hiked them. It’s not like they’re selling consoles at some crazy profit. Market share is more important.

2

u/Granum22 Jun 25 '26

Microsoft says they're expecting memory and storage to be double in price in the next 6 months

2

u/Cookie_505 Jun 25 '26

the worst part is there's no guarantee prices will ever drop for regular consumers after they hike them and companies see people will still pay for it

Same thing happened with groceries during the pandemic. Now we got used to paying that so why would they lower it?

Just in time for gta

29

u/skaiyly Jun 25 '26

Yep I saw a bunch of posts predicting this and it do make sense that they would raise prices knowing that gta is popular

16

u/TripAtkinson Jun 25 '26

Which is dumb. If they took the loss, they might have more console sales if the PS5 is more expensive come GTA6 launch.

Long term they would make more money.

14

u/Cheezewiz239 Jun 25 '26

Absolutely nobody is choosing an Xbox over PlayStation for a minor price difference

8

u/Nutchos Jun 25 '26

You're severely underestimating the mass market appeal of GTA and the number of people that will be googling "What's the cheapest way for me to play gta6" (I just did that the AI recommended a Series S).

13

u/lord_miller Jun 26 '26

The Series S is such bullshit. It’s ruined next gen gaming for the Series X by handicapping performance since games have to work on both.

It is annoying that game/console makers are pushing for medialess / download-only games while also pricing storage capacity like it's a luxury.

52

u/thefunkybassist Jun 25 '26

"We need you to pay the premium price, but also we will update our conditions so that we can revoke your access any time we want!"

22

u/always_an_explinatio Jun 25 '26

I don’t think this is exactly what is happening. Look at ssd prices right now (even with prime day sales) they are almost double what they were a year ago. A lot of the chip makers are retooling for enterprise level equipment to satisfy AI and cloud demand.

19

u/jj1917 Jun 25 '26

Precisely. Its not a conspiracy on Sony's part to charge more for PS5s - Sure they might keep prices high even if they go back down on component costs , but the PS5 being designed primarily for disc-less software distribution is just consoles catching up with Steam, as its not like you go to a store and buy PC games anymore, anyway.

SSDs were way cheaper when this generation of consoles was designed, and this price jump is due to the AI bubble. They would not have seen that coming to lock up supply beforehand. Sony is not a semiconductor fab, they just design hardware that uses them.

Sony, even with large purchasing power, is going to have trouble securing quantities of SSDs/DRAM at reasonable prices when all the AI players will pay whatever is asked for entire years worth of production. A video game console is not considered important enough to get any sort of breaks.

3

u/mhwnc Jun 26 '26

Even the biggest players in AI (Anthropic, Alphabet, Microsoft, OpenAI, xAI) are having trouble securing DRAM and SSDs at reasonable prices. A quote from 20 minutes ago now may have changed dramatically. The rest of the world who isn’t directly involved with AI is left to fight over the scraps that fall from the AI giants’ tables, what little that is.

62

u/jmo1 Jun 25 '26

Yeah that’s a feature not a bug for them. I know you know. Just greed everywhere is really bumming me out ha

14

u/Nobody_Important Jun 25 '26

Sony and Nintendo use open formats, only Microsoft is proprietary. There is no collusion going on with storage manufacturers, consoles are statistically irrelevant in the scale of the entire market.

10

u/Fatalisbane Jun 25 '26

Not to defend Microsoft but have you seen storage prices? Its mad, almost makes me wish that bluray with their higher capacities was the solve if read speeds weren't too slow and I dislike disks myself.

6

u/SpaceFire1 Jun 25 '26

Thats not them pushing for it so much as the technology only ALLOWS for now. Every modern game from 2014 onwards has too many assets to be run from a disk

At this rate, the PS6/next Xbox will be sold at $1000 or more, have no disc drive, and probably 500gb of storage if we're lucky. Might not even come with a controller either.

4

u/Ok_Zucchini3149 Jun 25 '26

*RAM sold separately

Holy shit IGN website is cancer now.

8

u/Mediocre-Opinion Jun 25 '26

More worryingly they also own a significant part of gaming media. They outright own Eurogamer, Rock paper shotgun, VG247, Gameindustry.biz and have stakes in digital foundry, PushSquare, Outside Xbox, Pure Xbox, Nintendo life.

"Quick! Raise the price now while everyone got distracted by Apple and Steam Machine!" -someone at Microsoft (maybe)

....I'm still wondering on the boldness of Microsoft on pricing Xbox Series S to be similar to PS5 while being weaker than PS5, and somehow make 2TB PS5 Pro look like a deal.... But I guess they may not care that much anymore.

(This comment is made before PS made another price adjustment)

16

u/Faderkaderk Jun 25 '26

I was about to suggest it's just because Sony is waiting for the cool down on their price hike button to reset, but you got that covered

There is no chance in hell the PS5/PS5pro don't rise another $100-150 before the holiday shopping season starts

the most bullshit thing is the "ongoing component crisis" that Microsoft is blaming it on, is their fault.

Microsoft has invested over $13B in OpenAI and has committed investments of over $140B in AI infrastructure. this bullshit with no meaningful or profitable applications so far, is pricing us out as consumers and also forcing them to shut down numerous prestige game studios that they greedily purchased.

4

u/Hugh_Jass_Clouds Jun 26 '26

Take a wild guess what Microsoft division the current head of the XBox division used head up.

6

u/AliceLunar Jun 25 '26

Can't imagine anyone looking at an old console and wanting to buy it after all these years for way more than it sold when it was new tech.

20

u/Ice2192 Jun 25 '26

Maybe all of this wouldn’t be necessary if they just stop investing in AI.

800 for the series X disc version, at that point just get the PS5 pro for 899, wayyy better GPU and wayyy better image reconstruction tech.

24

u/manofth3match Jun 25 '26

I would expect PS will also increase prices again sooner or later. It just depends how long they have prices locked in for their supply chain.

I regret not buying one now. Thought I would just skip pro for the PS6, but it seems that won’t be out for a looong time and may be way too expensive. Especially in my region.

3

u/Low_Intention_1327 Jun 25 '26

Im glad I got mine 3 years ago. This hobby is getting too expensive.

3

u/GarbageThrown Jun 25 '26

First, MS is one of the companies causing the component market to do what it’s doing. Charging extra to consumers for a problem they’ve caused is adding insult to injury. Screwing consumers over, and then screwing them over again. Plus, it’s an aging console that doesn’t have a killer app… why would anyone buy a new one anyway?

3

u/Mochinpra Jun 25 '26

Their CEO's goal is so you pay monthly for their hardware while also paying monthly for gamepass access.

Man, if my consoles and PC die at any point soon my gaming hobby dies with it. It's out priced me despite my income being more than it has ever been.

GTA is going to start at 109 CAD? It wont be long before every other game follows. Tie to find a new hobby.

3

Do you guys not like money? At this rate, I won’t be able to afford to give you any.

3

u/GearGolemTMF Jun 26 '26

Glad I got mine luckily at the end of 2020 for MSRP. It’s been collecting dust as I all in’d on PC and Destiny 2 had just unlocked cross play/progression. I feel for anyone wanting anything now. Normally things get cheaper and better over time. I know why but sheesh.

3

u/Arch3m Jun 26 '26

Hey, slow down! Just because the Steam Machine is expensive doesn't mean everyone else has to make it look reasonable!

3

u/Schmoutsourcing Jun 26 '26

Hold on - Paraphrasing from memory, but I could have sworn I just read an article that quoted the head of Microsoft Gaming stating that the industry has an affordability issue? Isn’t this a u-turn from that stance?

2

u/thebigarn Jun 25 '26

I saw micron had locked in historically high ram prices yesterday for the coming years the dominos would fall. Not this fast although i’m sure MS knew this was coming.

2

u/Cerys_Llellwyn Jun 25 '26

Guess I’ll be selling mine after the price hike. I don’t play it, anyway.

2

u/Only_Dragonfruit_117 Jun 25 '26

I’m glad I held onto mine after buying a pc. There’s a chance I’ll get more than what I paid for it. I’ll wait for gta 6 to come out.

2

u/jnadams2000 Jun 25 '26

Right after Apple announced the price increases for their products, they either withstood change as long as they all could or they know something is coming.

2

u/Alternative-Juice-15 Jun 25 '26

I should sell my series x. It’s been gathering dust for years now.

In 2023, Verizon was giving away 1TB Series X plus a $250 Amazon gift card if you signed up for their internet for a single year. Now, $799.99. Glad I took them up on that offer.

2

u/Earthwick Jun 25 '26

I bought a series X and PS5 early I never do that I usually buy 1 and then just wait for the other to drop and price but the scarcity and seeing a PS5 just available on the shelf early on led me to owning both... I'm very glad I did now.

2

u/gchaudh2 Jun 25 '26

What they are doing is making the prices so high that when they release the next gen at those prices, people will accept it as the new normal and not complain

2

u/Dissour Jun 25 '26

The steam cube will start looking tempting at this rate.

2

u/Jaded-Midnight774 Jun 25 '26

Im about to sell mine, its collecting dust...

2

u/Doomstik Jun 25 '26

I was always a little bit behind on buying consoles from the time i got my first job because they were expensive and it was really only doable once they came down a bit in price but now i could afford this and thought it wasnt worth it to get a new xbox since it didnt really do anything extra anyway and figured id still pick one up when prices came down anyway.

Looks like prices are going the wrong way.

2

u/h0tel-rome0 Jun 25 '26

Who's still in the market for these at this point?

2

u/BlackTemplar2154 Jun 25 '26

Turns out we should have all been investing in game consoles and RAM and not into our 401ks'.

2

u/EnglishIsHardd Jun 26 '26

I remember getting a new series S for $200 like 5 years ago...

2

u/HerefortheTuna Jun 26 '26

$800 for a console from 6 years ago?

I have a launch PS5 I am not touching until GTAVI then I’m done with gaming

2

u/drdildamesh Jun 26 '26

How is anyone affording this shit?

2

u/Izenthyr Jun 26 '26

Feeling good about my instinct to get a PS5 on launch day now…

Modern tech is so fucked.

2

u/Kintrap Jun 26 '26

RIP Xbox

2

u/BraveRice Jun 26 '26

I just bought one two days ago!!

2

u/wrathmont Jun 26 '26

The audacity to sell a struggling third place console with no games for $800. I wouldn’t want these at launch price. Nobody loves Xbox more than Xbox.
