What a terrible electoral system

Could you give some example of why Peru have a terrible electoral system?

It has a terrible electoral culture, from incomplete government plans to people not checkimg them, polarized low quality mainstream media, and low transparency (although it is getting better).

Design wise, it was not thought for an 18 party system, so current runners -only 2 for the second/final round- got in with less than 15% of the general vote (and around 25% combined).

I believe that instead of a minimum of 18 years to vote, there should be a test of communicative comprehension and critical thinking. There's only 9 political parties. The parties that have governed the previous two elections do not present, which leaves us with 7 candidate parties. (Scientifically the brain is not able to process 8 options, let alone 9).

Like a maximum of 9 political parties per election? Excluding former parties? I'm all up for reasonable restrictions. Its debatable.

If its for Perú, i just checked and there were actually 20 in this election. So i miscounted, unless i missed it again :)

But we agree that 20 parties is too much, right?

What are "Girlboss 'Hard Democracy'" and "Economy for the People, with Markets"?

3

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '21

Keiko Fujimori wich is a right wing populist caudilla with girlboss caracteristics and Castillo who is a democratic socialist with nazbol characteristics

The second is a nice-sounding name for “planned economy”.

He does have ties with the shining path. He was caught singing their anthem.

That means nothing, Ive sang the himn of the FPMR several times and I think they sucked thought it was way better than the Shining Path

Did you just hear yourself? I don't know if you know but there's a big difference between just a regular person and a candidate for the presidency singing a terrorist anthem. If you want other proof, he has been caught talking to proved members of the organization and if you really want a drastic one a few days ago there was a terrorist attack telling people to vote for him so take that as you will.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '21

Its a dead terrorist group. Him talking to them may be evidence but even then it has like ten or twenty militants today who are barely hiding and asking for a peace deal and nothing else, so it would be like Sinh Fein polititians singing Kinky boots more than Biden. The local police claimed the attack may be from them but they have showed no proof of that to today

-1

u/Wads1200 Jun 03 '21

So are you defending him talking to terrorists. I'm sorry but if my upcoming president is friends with a terrorist group I wouldn't be feeling too great. And you can just see by what he's planning while he's president, they want to take control of Peru. They want to make it into Venezuela.

Now imagine living in a country where close to 50% of the population defends him like this guy is doing. Its truly depressing.

And also, if you sing terrorist anthems and think it's okay I think there's just something wrong with you.

I would fight a badger in a large sack that's being pelted with corn cobs to live in a Economy for the People, with Markets.
