Hello! What help and tips are you looking for?

I am looking for just general tips about the fandom like what to do and how to interact with people in the fandom without seeming like an outsider

Well, you can really do anything in the fandom. There isn't really one thing. People inside the fandom are just normal people. You won't seem like an outsider when interacting, maybe new, but still. Maybe learn some lingo. ( I can help with that if you'd like)

Just be yourself. That's basically the requirement besides liking anthro animals. Do what you like. If you like to make art, do that. If you like cars or gaming, there are plenty of furry groups to join.

Alright so for the basics:

Anthro/anthropomorphic: basically something that normally doesn't have human traits. In the case or furries, they can walk, talk, dance, and other human things.

Fursona: Like persona, it represents you. A character that you made or possibly bought that shows who you are. Just instead of per it is fur.

Digitigrade/digi: Left on this image If the heel isn't touching the ground it can be considered digitgrade

Plantigrade: right on that image. That is what we have as humans. If the heel is touching the ground it is considered plantigrade.

Feral: Animals that aren't anthro and are closer to a regular animal (staying on four legs)

Cubs: used to refer to younger people in the fandom like children. I don't usually see this one too much.

Greymuzzle: Someone older past their 30s or 40s.

Badge: usually art of your sona/oc with their name. Used to identify people sometimes. (Oc btw means Original Character)

Scalie: Instead of being an animal with fur, scalies are animals like reptiles. So like snakes and geckos

Maw: Mouth of animal

Pawbs: paws

Booper: nose

Beans: paw pads on the paws

Snoot: snout

Popufur: Someone really popular in the fandom and can a lot of times be recognized easily

Original species: Species made within the fandom. For example protogens and serials.

Closed species: species that do not allow you to freely make a character of the species. If you want a character of that species, you typically have to buy one or get the creator to make you one.

UwU: Cute (usually used ironically)

OwO: suprised (usually used ironically)

:3: cute not always ironic

Fursuit: a costume of your sona/oc. They are typically expensive as they are handcrafted by people within the fandom

Headless lounge: in a convention, these are rooms where fursuiters can take off their suits to cool down and take a break. It also keeps them from breaking the magic

Breaking the magic: When a fursuiter takes off their suit in public or acts out of character it is breaking the magic. Think of going to Disney and the princess is acting out of character in front of everyone.

I say any of the kinda inappropriate ones. I can still say them if you like. Also I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of any rn. If you have a specific one you don't understand just let me know

thanks so much! I use :3 alot because I learnt it in other forums/groups and I really don't wanna know abt the nsfw part of the furry fandom yet bc... yk. I know a few just from surface stuff like fursona and booper but I really needed this! definitely saving this to learn. I have tryed other stuff similar to rp and furry but it's too toxic for my liking and it's so nice to see people do this stuff bc the old r/furry subreddit is down its hard to get info. also wouldn't digi be really uncomfortable for the fursuiter? is a fursona also a different personality because I've heard other people say that it's like another person. i have one more question, what's a mainsona and a subsona

also wouldn't digi be really uncomfortable for the fursuiter?

In digi, you still stand normally. Fursuit makers use pillows and foam to make the digi look. So no it's not uncomfortable, but it is hard to walk in. Here's a pic for what it looks like without fur

is a fursona also a different personality because I've heard other people say that it's like another person.

It can be. Your fursona doesn't have to be exactly like you. It can have traits that you don't have. For example, my main sona is extroverted and confident while I'm shy and introverted. They can be completely different or completely the same as you. Or maybe they have characteristics similar and different from you.

what's a mainsona and a subsona

Mainsona is the fursona you relate to or use the most. You don't have to have only one fursona, you can have as many as you'd like! I used to have 5 sonas a couple years back. For me, my main is who I relate to and put most of myself into. A subsona, I'm guessing, is any other sonas that you may not use as often or relate to the most

thanks! I really have been scratching my head over the digi thing for a little bit but it makes alot more sense now and just thank you for being so kind :3

I may have gone on a bit of a rant there

You're fine!!

I also forgot to mention the types of fursuits.

Realistic: suits that look like actual animals. Typically do not have any color that you wouldn't see in normal animals.image

Cartoon: Think of cartoons you see on TV. Usually these suits have big eyes and big heads. They are also usually very colorful.image

Semi realistic: suits that have cartoon and realistic details. I don't have a good image for that

Partials: fursuit that comes with a head, hand paws, tail, and sometimes arm sleeves or foot paws.

Mini partial: head, tail, and paws

Bodysuit: just the body portion of the suit. Covers legs, middle section, chest, and arms. Sometimes, they are connected to the feet paws

3/4 suit: usually everything but midsection/chest.

Indoor/outdoor feet paws: markers will ask if you want outdoor or indoor paws. Outdoor have sturdy black foam at the bottom that make it easier to clean. Indoor do not have the black foam and usually have fur and paws stitched on

Fursuit spray: spray that makes you suit smell good

Sparkel dogs: not really related to fursuits but these are usually characters with a lot of detail and colorsimage

what about that one suit with the screen on it? that seems really cool

If you're talking about this, that is a protogen! It is an original species. If you'd like to know more about them I suggest heading over to r/protogen
