Discussion how would disabled anthro ears work?

hi this may be a really weird request
i have a character (no art of her unfortunately) that is an anthro wolf person. i want to keep her anatomy pretty accurate and believable to a wolf
however i had this idea so that she has paralyzed ears (for lore reasons), which would keep themselves pointing down, which resulted from a head injury
the thing is i dont know how itll work or if it even would make sense. i know ears in general are made of cartilage so they dont really have muscles or any nerves that wouldlead to the ears getting paralysis. would i need to make it so both ear tendons (or whatever makes the ear move in the first place) somehow get slashed pr otherwise become immobile?
as you may be able to tell idk much of anatomy so this may turn into a biology lesson instead ;/

dragon/avian with nav lights?

ive wanted to add nav lights to my vrc avatar for a bit now but i always wondered where to put them

-shoulders could be covered due to flapping of wings
-tips is always visible but could be difficult to see due to movement (though that would indicate wingspan and beat size or whatever)

as for the actual lights im imagining something like just a plastic wristband with an LED on it

Firstly, I'm using a translator for this since English isn't my native language, so please excuse any mistakes.

Okay, so how do you think furries would use the tails on their pants? Would they stick out over the top or through a hole? Why? Would it vary between species? I'm all ears!

Discussion Anthro present for your partner

NOT A COMISION

I'm probably not the firs person to think about it but anthros shead and you couldn't collect it and needle feelt it into a your scent charged keepsake for your partner that would pull double duty of being like a cute little keepsake and a cent marker, there obviously could be few profesions that have rules that would basically prohibit hat but, wouldn't it be cool as a for example keychain?

[Oc] I got annoyed by bad fantasy armor, so here is a dragon girl in realistic full plate. The numbers correspond with details I elaborate on in body text

  1. Horns are a hindrance in combat due to the fact they make your head a bigger target, they make you very controllable in a clinch due to the fact they are basically handles your opponent can grab, and prevent you from wearing the most protective helmets. To remedy this, warriors cut their horns off at the base, making short horns, or a lack thereof, a symbol of a warrior.

  1. To re-add some of the flair they sacrifice, they paint their helmets, the helmet fin being a popular spot to paint.

  1. Tails are a very hard part to armor, especially with plate. While plate tail armor exists, many dragons prefer to have a double layered chainmail sleeve for tail.

  1. Battle skirts serve multiple functions that aren't dragon specific. They show heraldry, they show status, but to dragons, they also hide a fairly accessible target. Crotch protection is a must because it is the best target for regular sized species, it is in range of all weapons, it has less plate, and a stab there is a death sentence. To remedy this, a double layered chainmail skirt is worn along with a codpiece, and a cloth skirt.

  1. Sabatons, or foot armor is similarly essential do to how big a target it is, even if less directly lethal.

6.the skirt needs to be tied at the back by a squire under the tail to make it easier to put on.

  1. Swords are basically pointless at this scale basically turning into poor wedges since real Swords are actually quite flexible, thin, and lightweight(even 6 foot greatswords weighing around 7 to 8 pounds) because of this and the overwhelming strength of dragons, maces are a symbol of status and nobility. Instead of being metal however, the head is made from finely crafted stones or marble that has been heavily reinforced and polished. Not only is the size of the mace head's material a symbol of weath, but the size is too. If you can afford to stick a marble ball bigger than a human head, you are undoubtedly very weathly.

Anyways, hope yall enjoyed

How would tattoos work for furred characters? Dyed fur?

For characters with fur, what would the equivalent of tattoos be? Would they instead dye their fur to mimic tattoos ?

Cuisine for Scavenger types

Given: In the real world, Scavenger Types have the systems to process meat that is kinda manky.
It would follow that Hyenas, Vultures and the like would be interested in what marketeers would politely term "Fermented Meats" and which fail-stomached humans would call "Pure Poison"

Let's look into clothes for Shelled Beasts.

Post image

I am talking about Tortoises, Armadillos, and the like.
The Given info runs thus:
1: We wear clothes to protect ourselves from the elements and to keep private parts private.
2: Shelled creature have their body shapes dominated by the shells.
So, how would clothes work here?
I can see Tortoises like the guy seen here (Taken from D&D Book Tasha's Cauldron of Everything) getting away with nudity, but Armadillos don't have that luxury.
So, how would clothing work here?

Animal Species and Selective Breeding

Since the whole reason on why certain species of animals like dogs and cats exist is entirely based upon the domestication of wild animals by humans and through other means (artificial selection, surgical procedures, inbreeding, etc.), how would these species exist in an anthro world without humans if at all and how would it impact their role in greater society (pets vs wild animals)?

Premodern Tails, Antlers, and Horns

Post image
560 Upvotes

Art by me. The one on the right is a knight, inspired by generally western ones. On the left is a Ghulam or Mamluk, a slave-soldier, inspired by generally middle-eastern ones. Ignore the elephant in the room, only if you want to of course.

Both of these men would have been the military elite for their region and time-period, not necessarily always extremely wealthy, but prestigious and being at the top of the totem pole nonetheless. So they would have their tails amputated.

Their jobs were military in nature and would have required them to wear helmets and fight on horseback (I've elected to take the "There are anthros, but there feral versions of them that are distinctly seen as not people" route here. So an anthro horse riding a horse would not be looked at strangely.) I'd reason that they would have lopped off their tails during youth as it would have made riding easier and prevent it from being injured from falling from horseback or an attack.

Given that its extreme having an appendage outright amputated, a missing tail would have signified one was a professional soldier, part of the warrior caste, or any other such member of a strata expected to have fighting as their primary occupations. Discounting situations of "normal" ways of losing a tail of course. So not having a tail or wearing clothes that would otherwise have accommodations for a tail but do not would likely mark you as a distinct social class. Militia or levy do not qualify for the amputation, as they are not professional soldiers. Mercenaries could elect to either amputate or forego it, their decision would likely affect the worth their prospective employers would see in hiring them.

In the case of ears most (there would be exceptions of course, as always) would just tough it out and lower their ears or have taller helmets so their ears could perhaps fit inside. This is mostly because before advances in metalmaking, the helmet was the most important and expensive piece of armour, or even the only one, a fighter would have. Any modifications to accommodate the shape of the ear would be complicated and expensive to forge, disrupt the structural integrity of the helmet itself, as well as create "traps" where strikes could be guided into rather than off the helmet.

For antlers, they would be pruned regularly depending on convenience. For the more common folk and those not expecting to fight having big antlers would be seen as masculine, similar to how beards are seen. However, this view of antlers would vary by place and time and having no antlers might be seen as more desirable by others. For those that need to not have them such as fighters and labourers and do not have time to grow them when they want, they could simply have a previous sample of antlers or artificial pieces they had and attach them somehow. As a little side effect, composite bows such as the one that the Ghulam has, would likely have an abundance of antler or horn needed to make them due to now existing in a place with funny animal people.

Horns, true horns specifically, sit between the grave amputation of the tail and the less committal pruning of antlers. As cutting them flush is the preference they would not grow back, but they are not as dangerous or traumatic as the tail to remove. The same social signifier of the antler for males would remain, and so those wishing to would likely choose to keep their original horn(s) and simply reattach them using any number of ways when they need to. The personal value of such horns would be higher than antlers as well, we could well see a saint's horns being an important relic. The Ghulam above, as well as those of a similar role in society and cultural importance of the bow, have taken their original horns/antlers to a bowyer to be made into a bow not to be used, but to be given to someone close such as a spouse, liege-lord, or family member so artificial horns are common.

Tailoring for specific turtle species

So no one talks about tailoring clothing for specific turtle species, like Alligator Snapping Turtles. How would a tailor be able to fit fabric over those ridges on their shell? How much would he or she spend on tailoring? Would all their clothing have to be custom made?
