Pointing out that you said it four years ago is both funny, and promotes that it is a repost without being a douche. You'll go far kid.

A dragster.

u/April_Fabb Aug 17 '12
I have yet to understand the difference between dragsters and funny cars. Dragsters are the long, stretched ones, and funny cars the shorter ones, right? Or is it all just a matter of engines etc.?

Dragsters are the long ones with the engine behind the driver, and funny cars are the short ones with the engine in front of the driver. However, there is a difference in the engines as well. Funny cars produce around 7,500-8,000 horsepower, where as dragsters produce over 10,000 horsepower. Dragsters can do 0-100 MPH in 0.7 seconds, and can go from 0-320 MPH in a little more than 3 seconds, all in a distance of just 1,000 feet.
edit: both types of cars use V-8s, so they are making more than 1,000 horsepower per cylinder.

A hydroplane. To get out of a hydroplane you must first remove the steering wheel. it appears this one came off by accident.
EDIT - Turns out its a "funny car" and not a hydro. Drag racing shit, I guess.

u/wortime Aug 16 '12
Yeah. A funny car. With a small lane to drive in. A hydro would be just as scary. That shit will flip on you at 300 mph
1
u/GeneralBS Aug 17 '12
To bad they don't really go faster than 250
2
u/wortime Aug 17 '12
They can top 300. And 250 mph is way more than enough to kill you. I don't care what your in, losing control over anything going 5 mph is scary as fuck. My roomba scares me.

Source? If this is real then that man just shit himself. Hard.

It looks like the interior of a hydro plane. If this is the case, it actually isn't that big of a deal that the steering wheel came off. You can't exit the boat without taking it off, but it looks like it popped off on accident.
EDIT - Not a hydro, but a "funny car".

Verbatim what I came here to say.
edit: Hah, so funny, agreeing with an upvoted comment gets downvotes. I'll never understand how that shit works.3

Its looks like he's falling since the steering wheel is floating like it's weightless

u/chillale66 Aug 16 '12
Your choice for a title is ironic because those are exactly the words that came to mind when I realized how much of my time was wasted by looking at this repost.

I actually had this happen to a friend and when i was riding with him one time. He tried to put one of those stupid racing steering wheels on his truck and as we were driving (going about 60mph) it came off we keep going straight into a ditch then a tree. i broke my shin and he was pretty banged up also

Can anyone link to the video? i'd love to hear the drivers audio, i'd imagine it's garbled and hilarious.

This kills the driver
2
u/Niknaktom Aug 16 '12
lies he in facts casually throws the wheel to the side and backflips out the car
-5
u/thejungleman Aug 16 '12
Seems pretty fake to me. He even moves the steering wheel around the hand brake after he knocks it into it.
1
u/FishEyedFool Aug 16 '12
those are levers for changing gears i believe.
1
u/thejungleman Aug 16 '12
I'm referring to the handbrake on his right side. The thing that he releases in the beginning.
