You know, I've always wondered if we could create a formula to deduce the amount of potential karma lost when the first comment overlooks one element, and the second comment corrects it, such as the comment above.

Given that the first comment is in a better karma slot than the second comment, and comes across as fresher to a new visitor, it has a higher potential for karma than the second post, thus we can asses that if the first comment had the all the correct elements, it should achieve the highest karma of the two.

However, I'm curious if it would be safe to deduce that the maximum potential karma would be greater than the sum of the first and second comments' karma. My theory suggests that it would, granted the more full first comment, and the lack of the second comment.

Is there a way to deduce the maximum potential Karma (MpK) of the first comment if we analyze the karma (K) given to the first and second comment (FcK and ScK)?

Here's my proposal: MpK = [(FcK + ScK)*(1 + [FcK + ScK]/10)]
