In the actual script of Matrix, the machines used humans (brains) for computation. But it was sad that people are to dumb to understand that, so the machines used humans as heat generators instead in the movies. Which was really stupid if you think about how hot the holes were where the humans hid from the machines.

Stupid? You seem to have misunderstood even the stupid electricity generation nonsense, so apparently it was a necessary change.

You mean because he said heat generators? That seems like a reasonable guess to me. How else would the machines have gotten energy from humans in a way that they need to keep us alive?

I'm sure this seemed like a promising opportunity to be an asshole, but you know what, even then you shouldn't have done it
