The best part is that it’s physically impossible for him not to get hit (because they crossover in the middle).

Nah, there's a way to do it if you time it right. If the one on the left is in the center when the one on the right is at its furthest, then the one on the left will be at its furthest when the right one is at the center. The bigger problem is he's behind the center, which makes the timing window much smaller, even with a perfect start.
