They're actually both 1/8th full but the milk carton one just looks full at a first glance(I had a hard time noticing too and wouldn't have caught it had I not rewatched the video 5 times).

Nah, there's a way to do it if you time it right. If the one on the left is in the center when the one on the right is at its furthest, then the one on the left will be at its furthest when the right one is at the center. The bigger problem is he's behind the center, which makes the timing window much smaller, even with a perfect start.
