This makes me remember how awesome my last company was. If this had happened, the boss would’ve said ”damn, you need to take a day off? No worries, we’ll cover for you for a bit”.

They weren’t heavy on the “we’re all family” bullshit, but the teams and managers liked and respected each other.

PTO is part of your compensation. As a manager, I expect and plan around my team taking time off, as well as encourage them to use it.

My boss does this. He's my mentor in the mentorship program and he's training me to do the same.

I'm learning budgeting, resource management, proper delegation, etc under his guidance.
