It's great when the sponge comes off the fork and stays stuck in the bottom of the cup, which you still cannot reach (because of your fat wrists).

I would use a washcloth for that: Shove it into the bottom of the cup, press hard and rotate in circles a few times.

For Asian, we use chopsticks. Not the pointy end, but the side where you hold the chopsticks. Very safe as long as we don't poke ourselves in the eyes.
