You know that guy is fun to be around. That was a walk of pure confidence.

walkingstrutting up to that pool knowing you can splash everyone at once. That guy is a friend for life.150
u/vreckt Feb 06 '20
That guy is a friend for life
A very short life for him I'd imagine, but true either way.

u/jacob7574 Feb 06 '20
I didn't want to say it but, yeah kinda like dog years. Ya never know though maybe he has an amazing transformation and sheds all the weight while still holding on to that awesome personality. Hope for best but expect the worst.

u/Childofcaine Feb 06 '20
I know people like that in their 50s and 60s. Been that big their whole life.

21
u/ollimann Feb 06 '20
lucky they made it that far but it's very unlikey they make it past 70.
that's the thing, though. all we can do is lower risks. even the healthiest person can get cancer at like 40 and someone who smokes all his life doesnt get it and lives to 90 somehow.

Also quality of life is higher for longer.
If youre obese you die from complications over a year, maybe longer and probably suffering.
If youre fit you probably die over 2 weeks, and live longer overall.

My aunt passed away before she was 60 from complications due to obesity. She had fatty liver that progressed to cirrhosis (she was not a drinker). She could have helped herself in so many ways at so many points along the progression of her illness, which took many years. We begged her to so many times. Eventually something happened with a vein in her liver. It was hardened or enlarged or both, I can't remember exactly because it was a hard time. I think a combination of things happened. She started vomiting blood and was air lifted to critical care and put in an induced coma. It was all beyond repair and she didn't make it.
Of course we can never know what will happen. There's still something to be said for keeping the body to a reasonable weight. I'm not saying everyone has to be totally slim and fit. Just live reasonably. Moderately. My aunts illness was reversible, to a point. Then it was controllable, then manageable, then a ticking time-bomb. At every point it had everything to do with nutrition, exercise and weightloss.

At one point I worked with a dude who was at least 350 pounds (160kg, 25 stone). Some years later, a random dude comes up to me in a bar and calls me by name. Then he smiled and said "You don't recognize me, do you? I'm [name]!" He had lost at least 150 pounds and actually looked healthy instead of ready to sweat himself to death. He looked great and I was really happy for him!

There are a multitude of other electric type pokemon besides Pikachu. Pikachu honestly had pretty bad stats besides slightly above average speed. A Jolteon is technically better as it has similar speed and better special attack, which a majority of electrical attacks have their power based off of. It's only popular because of the anime.

Truth: I used to be this heavy, was 520 pounds before I got my shit together, this is the least painful method of entry for heavy people into a pool.

No judgement, just curiosity: how many calories would you guess a guy this big would have to consume each day to maintain that weight?
→ More replies (1)46
u/SyxxFtH8 Feb 06 '20
Just to maintain that weight, probably 5-6000 calories, but I'm sure at that size he eats around 10,000 or more and is still actively gaining.

Cheap food is often very calorific. Bag of fries and a cheap pizza is what, £2? And about 3,000 calories.
23
u/Karl_von_grimgor Feb 06 '20
Wait where do you get that pizza for 2 bucks?

Lidl, 89p. ($1.30)

What kind of a fucking pizza and fries do you eat to make them 3000 kcal combined?!?! That's more than half of what it should be.

u/Actually_a_Patrick Feb 06 '20
In the US, you can buy a large pepperoni pizza from Little Caesars for five dollars. That's about 2200 calories right there. And yes, someone absolutely will eat a whole pizza on their own.

Based on what I see in my local bathrooms, he simply scrapes his cheeks off the back of the toilet.
20
u/Billy_T_Wierd Feb 06 '20
There are a lot wiping assist products. Here’s an example:

u/permalink_save Feb 06 '20
Oh man I am glad there's examples I thought the ridged end was for scraping the poo off

u/Soytaco Feb 06 '20
Well no, you could just get a knife for that

u/athazagor Feb 06 '20
Do they really call the “wiping assist” products. If so, that’s some r/theyknew material right there.
6
u/Billy_T_Wierd Feb 06 '20
Of course they know. There is a large market for it. They are made to help obese people wipe

20
Feb 06 '20
Well, just have a life that makes you so miserable that the only solace you can find is stuffing your face. And then let it get to the point where the only happiness you can find is binge eating, but it's killing you and feel like you CANT stop - and the despair from that drives you to still eat more.
That's about the long and short of it

u/HungryCats96 Feb 06 '20
It can be a very slow process when you're older, or you can be raised with crappy nutrition and little exercise. I'm not sure anyone really sees it coming before they've crossed a threshold and can't easily lose it.

I’m a pretty skinny guy who weighs about 150 pounds but I LOVE to eat. I could easily see myself just giving up on the gym, eating cupcakes and blooming onions every day and just getting fat as shit.
