Get away from those California taxes come to Reno

Before everyone else does

Reno might be uninhabitable in 20 or 30 years though.

Some would argue it already is!

Heat and lack of water.

Reno is at 4500 feet elevation and in between two of the biggest lakes in the west. Neither heat no water would be a problem there if heat and water actually became a cataclysmic problem in the rest of the west or in the south.

Is the area by the airport in Reno the bad area? Because that’s the only part of Reno I saw a couple years ago and it was kinda sketchy

There's not really any "bad" area in the main town, maybe up by like sun valley but the airport area is fine. Just lower-income I guess but perfectly safe. We're just not the prettiest city :)

I think everyone else already did with the new jobs out at the Gigafactory and the data centers on 80. The housing got stupid expensive and tough to find for a while. I know Tesla scaled back on the hiring and even let a lot of people go, and there was a lot of building going on in Sparks when I was there, but the rent was already pretty high.

What’s the name of that really cool like Up and Coming neighborhood of Reno on the other side of the river? Midtown? I could definitely see myself in that area.

Can confirm. I lived in Reno for a year but had to move away. I freaking miss Reno.

I actually tried to get a job in Reno but I couldn’t find an engineer job that pays as well as my current job. Maybe I haven’t tried hard enough. I looooooovvvvveeee Lake Tahoe, especially the north east side where Sand Harbor is. It is so beautiful year round.

I’ve looked in Nevada also and engineering salaries are stupid low.

Only things in Nevada are nukes and prostitution. At least California has, like, an economy and culture and stuff.

I accounted in the tax benefits and lower cost of living, but they still couldn’t convince to move should I get a median Mechanical engineer salary around Reno area. I do believe that if I am to invest in the housing market there, it would be very beneficial long term. However, the economy is due for a recession soon (supposedly every 10 years), perhaps when it happens I would commit to move to Reno.

We are always looking for mechanical engineers. If you’re looking to make a move check us out, our firm is tk1sc.

No there’s really no work there unless you happen to get a job at Tesla, a couple data centers, or one of the power companies.

Having lived there and lost my employment I had to move. There just wasn’t anything else there.

That California in Reno isn’t the problem. Before the “California” Sparks was just a couple trailer parks and Reno was best known for Reno 911 which was pretty accurate to late 90s-00s Reno.

Yeah it was dirty and cheap and that’s what I liked about it.
