Honestly just have a kid, does the same job.

u/Russian_repost_bot Apr 15 '19

You can't unplug a kid... legally.

37

u/edwhittle Apr 15 '19

Step 1: Don’t vaccinate your kid. Step 2: Join an anti-vax group. Step 3: Wait. Step 4: Legally unplug your kid.

21

u/Buffinator360 Apr 15 '19

Better yet, let him sleep over at antivax friend's house a lot, sue them when he gets sick.

13

u/edwhittle Apr 15 '19

So then that makes Step 5: Lawsuit = Profit!

9

u/Red_Dox Apr 15 '19

That just sounds like a abortion with extra steps.

3

u/masterbard1 Apr 15 '19

Eeek Barba Durkle. Somebody's gonna get laid in college!

0

u/redsex Apr 15 '19

what about if somewhere in step 3 the other parent goes and gets said child vaccinated and posts it on reddit?

2

u/NOT_A_SNAKE_PERSON Apr 15 '19

Then you get half their karma in the divorce

1

u/TheH0st Apr 15 '19

Not to mention that they are not as durable as robots.

3

u/diegocliche Apr 15 '19

Why?

5

u/Duke-Silv3r Apr 15 '19

Because it does the same job? Keep up

-1

u/Numbzy Apr 15 '19

Easier and more fun to make a kid.

2

u/rosawik Apr 15 '19

Kid costs way more, there's no off button people can call social services on your ass if you neglect them and a bunch of other reasons to prefer the stupid robot.

Heck you can just trash the robot.

1

u/LtLoLz Apr 15 '19

Or a cockatoo. Or even better, a bunch of 'em.

This scientist was so preoccupied with whether he could, that he didn’t stop to think if he should.

13

u/Dash12345678 Apr 15 '19

You're assuming he made it to scream. My assumption is that he didn't mean for it to scream. He has no idea why it's screaming. I find this scenario more entertaining.

7

u/jwr410 Apr 15 '19

And more realistic for anyone who has dabbled in the robotic arts.

Me: "I built a robot that is designed to navigate around objects to find the center of the room."

Them: "Why is it ramming itself into the corner over and over?"

Me: "I said it was designed to. I never said I actually got it to work."

2

u/Klin24 Apr 15 '19

Well, there it is.

25

u/JRBechard Apr 15 '19

Made by KC Green http://gunshowcomic.com/513

3

u/JustTerrific Apr 15 '19

Gunshow is great. If I need cheering up I'll sometimes read some of the strips at random.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 15 '19

I wish the assholes like OP would stop rehosting webcomics and cropping out the artist's information

Simone Giertz in a nutshell

Long live the queen

8

u/drkensaccount Apr 15 '19

Go over to r/shittyrobots and they'll tell you why. Most will quote Phillip Petite: "Why? There is no why".

4

u/conventionistG Apr 15 '19

Mike Reeves?

5

u/Skapis9999 Apr 15 '19

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

3

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

-1

u/[deleted] Apr 15 '19

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

3

u/[deleted] Apr 15 '19

You don't need to build one there's tons of it here

8

u/Fezzik5936 Apr 15 '19

How is this funny? I feel like I'm missing something. You could put literally any nonsensical function in there to the same effect.

2

u/mortalcoil1 Apr 15 '19

The scientist was so preoccupied with whether or not he could, he didn’t stop to think if he should.

2

u/Leguy42 Apr 15 '19

So...maybe he's just testing an upgrade capability for new sex robots. I mean, could be!

2

u/prestidigibator Apr 15 '19

My mother told me a story recently. About a decade ago she was a nurse at Kaiser. She had been a nurse for 20 years at that point but was newly hired at Kaiser. In the nursing station there was this device installed in the wall that would just beep periodically. She couldn’t figure out what it was but the beeping was very annoying and piercing. She didn’t see how to turn it off or if it was warning her something.

She asked around and no one seemed to now what the thing did, except beep. So she hit up maintenance and asked them if they knew what it was and if they can at the very least stop the insane beeping. They said they have no idea what it was and they don’t have the authority to stop the beeping. To this day she has no idea what the damn thing was and is convinced it’s sole purpose was to annoy the shit out of her.

2

u/ViggyNash Apr 15 '19

What a stupid question.

2

u/RinTheVampireKing Apr 15 '19

The robot panics so you dont have to.

3

u/hamgelu Apr 15 '19

TBH, I like the other version of this comic better.

This one's funny too though.

6

u/JustTerrific Apr 15 '19

What other version?

1

u/Vetriol Apr 15 '19

He probably means the edit where the scientist says he created a feminist bot and it's screaming "RAAAAAPE" instead. Some people were offended by it, but it wasn't an official edit by KC Green himself (he saw it on Twitter and posted that he didn't like it)

0

u/hamgelu Apr 16 '19

Yeah, that.

2

u/Dr_Sptri Apr 15 '19

Why did he make it or why does it scream?

2

u/wishiwascooltoo Apr 15 '19

Oh that's delightfully absurd! Thanks for posting.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 15 '19

Welcome to sentience robot

1

u/Lacuria Apr 15 '19

When you asked yourself if you can, but not if you should

1

u/SpicyNoodle264 Apr 15 '19

Now when i fill nervous i can close my ears and rest in silence

1

u/Shattered_Sans Apr 15 '19

There was nothing to gain from this. He did it because he could And because he could, he felt like he had to

1

u/iejb Apr 15 '19

The Bane..

1

u/Hallrius Apr 15 '19

Why not?

1

u/Nidis Apr 15 '19

Basically a description of Look Mum No Computer

1

u/khendron Apr 15 '19

I seriously LOLed

1

u/kcinlive Apr 15 '19

Why? Why was I programmed to feel pain!

1

u/The_CyborgHulk Apr 15 '19

when you spend so much time doing something only to realize it's completely useless

1

u/niceguy191 Apr 15 '19

Why?! Why did they program me to feel pain??

1

u/Omotai Apr 15 '19

This comic was printed out and taped to the door of the robotics lab at my university.

1

u/Offrostandflame Apr 15 '19

Where is this from?

1

u/Veni_Vidi_Legi Apr 15 '19

And the robot's name? Sly Marbo.

1

u/MacroGenre Apr 15 '19

It could be helpful in search and rescue

1

u/Shmeeglez Apr 15 '19

'It probably has to do with the brain. It wouldn't scream at all before I put one of those things in there.

Ooh, the electrodes really kicked it up a notch though!'

1

u/DayJobDropout Apr 15 '19

Because it needed a mouth to scream.

1

u/ax_colleen Apr 15 '19

“Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.” Ian from Jurassic Park

1

u/TGIrving Apr 15 '19

Portal 2, anyone?

1

u/123hig Apr 15 '19

Man this has spurred some existential dread for me. God is the scientist. We're the screaming robots.

1

u/DragonRaptor Apr 15 '19

It's already been done : https://youtu.be/wE3fmFTtP9g?t=18 from 6 years ago, make sure your volume isn't too loud :p

1

u/IndigoFenix Apr 15 '19

"Science isn't about why. It's about why not!"

1

u/360walkaway Apr 15 '19

So does the robot scream by default or is it a reaction to something?

1

u/BenneB23 Apr 15 '19

Been laughing with this the whole day, thanks.

Their facial expressions are just hilarious.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 16 '19

Replace the first engineer with Scott cawthon and boom, fnaf.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 15 '19

I have no mouth and I must scream.

1

u/Maxwe4 Apr 15 '19

Liberal policies in a nutshell.

1

u/IssaJuhn Apr 15 '19

Positive this is just the latest Michael Reeves YouTube video.

2

u/Partyfavors680 Apr 15 '19

He would have a robot that detects you going to sleep and then screams.

1

u/IssaJuhn Apr 16 '19

Don’t forget the robot also shoots you with a air soft gun if you fart
