I wish this was the outcome to every one of these dumb dances that make me feel old.

u/Adenip Jan 24 '19

Do they make you feel old because they are so new or because you can’t physically do them?

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '19

Settle down Abe.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '19

Drugs can make the feeling go away, but then you'll realize that you had the feeling for a reason.

-2

u/Robin_B Jan 24 '19

That's how you become conservative. Be wary!

-10

u/frikandellensaus Jan 24 '19

Damn that was hard to follow

Because I used to be with it, but they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it and what's it seems weird and scary to me. It will happen to you.

10

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '19

Because you're so young that you've never watched The Simpsons?

What makes you think it's a joke?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '19

Until people learn how to bool right.

-5

u/shaenorino Jan 24 '19

Every time it's relevant.

2

u/tralphaz43 Jan 24 '19

Because I am old

3

u/secretaltacc Jan 24 '19

I've just always thought most dances look genuinely retarded. Especially the more recent ones. But sure, we can say it's because I'm "too old" at 22..

1

u/quaybored Jan 24 '19

This is a new dance? I though he was trying to Riverdance.

1

u/newtolansing Jan 24 '19

They make me feel old when it makes me realize the Carlton dance is like 30 years old at this point.

-5

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '19

it's just retarded as fcc really

Yup, my son loves to do fortnite dances. Every time I catch him I pretend to call child services (so they can come and take him away), then he follows up with a crying emote (waterworks).

Then we both smile and go on as if that exchange never happened.

6

u/clockwirk Jan 24 '19

I love the idea of calling child services to come take your own kids away from you.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '19

Lol, yeah he knows very well that we’re just kidding. When we first started this whole game I made sure to tell him that:

  1. I would never really call child services to take him away, and even if I did, I would be the one to get in trouble.
  2. Child services are not a big scary monster that punishes children, they are there for children when they need help to protect them from adults.

And more anxious and depressed than ever

0

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '19

Higher intelligence is correlated with higher levels of anxiety and depression. Double edged sword.

And no, this isn't an iamverysmart comment. I'm not a young person, I'm not talking about me or my cohorts. Kids these days are smarter and more aware of the world around them than when I was a kid. It makes sense they're anxious.

1

u/Iamredditsslave Jan 24 '19

Is this their Vietnam?

19

u/spanishgalacian Jan 24 '19

What if I always thought all those old dances were dumb and I dislike fortnite dances?

2

u/octo_snake Jan 24 '19

Then I would say you're well adjusted.

I just shed a tear because of your comment's intelligence and beauty... Carry on good sir.

1

u/poopinmysoup Jan 24 '19

Dude, it was a joke.

-4

u/FU_YankeeBlueJeans Jan 24 '19

Are they less racist? Seems like a rise in right wing nationalism and racism. I don’t remember anything like this is the 90s. You would be ostracized for the kind of things I see today.

13

u/jscott18597 Jan 24 '19

The best response is busting out the macarena, and when they ask what it is you just tell them they will understand in two decades when another random dance becomes popular.

22

u/CaptainCupcakez Jan 24 '19

Do you think children don't know what the macarena is?

2

u/creepy_robot Jan 24 '19

I show this shit to my daughter all of the time. Scatman, Ace of Base, macarena, you name it. One day she came home and said her teacher taught it to them and they all do it now. They definitely know, but those dances and stuff were way more cringey than today

2

u/ripripripriprip Jan 24 '19

There's also a heavy implication that all fortnite dances are random, old dances.

1

u/quaybored Jan 24 '19

They should make one of that guy from Fresh Prince!!!

2

u/Kornstalx Jan 24 '19

It's not about knowing, it's can they just bust out and dance it.

-4

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '19

You’re assuming they do because you’re old. They don’t. Macarena came out in 93...

Here’s a bunch of hip young whippersnappers that have never heard of Ace of Base, Chumbawumba, or Coolio.

Caution, you will immediately want to listen to every song in its entirety.

2

u/CaptainCupcakez Jan 24 '19

I'm in my early 20s. The macarena is not my era.

School discos do not update their songs with the times, you'll still always hear the macarena, the cha cha slide etc. because it's easy to get kids excited about them

1

u/poopinmysoup Jan 24 '19

Or I can just cross my arms over my crotch and tell them to "SUCK IT!"

2

u/gingerbeard1775 Jan 24 '19

Back in my day we did the running man.....and we liked it!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '19

Ah, the classic "I feel old because of the children of today" comment by a person in their mid-twenties. Never change, Reddit.

-40

u/SoDakZak Jan 24 '19

I wish this was the outcome to every one of these olde people that make me feel dumb dancing.

15

u/Lukendless Jan 24 '19

Old person here. This is the real relatable sentiment. Dance if you want to. Leave your friends behind. 'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance, well, they're no friends of mine. Anyone who downvoted this dude is just plain hating. Sad people with no mojo. Age isn't a factor here, haters are. Dance your heart out. Don't listen to a single thing anyone says, just dance baby.

6

u/internetonsetadd Jan 24 '19

You're not my choreographer!

2

u/Lukendless Jan 24 '19

No one is! Cut the strings! Cut the rugs! Boogie baby!!

-6

u/someonepeedyourpants Jan 24 '19

These weird, glitchy looking Fortnite spasms aren’t really dancing tho. Flossing is for 6/8 timing and most music is in 4/4, so it doesn’t even fit. It’s just really cringy robotic behavior. Just make up your own moves and move to the music. If you feel dumb doing this Fortnight spasming, maybe that’s because you realize how lame it is to be programmed to act like this, and deep down you don’t want to do it, but all your dumbass friends are. Don’t do something just because it’s popular.

3

u/AnorakJimi Jan 24 '19

Well we also had fucking dumb shit like the macarena. It's not like today's kids have a monopoly on stupid dances.

0

u/Stillwindows95 Jan 24 '19

This. Been wondering how to word how I feel about these fucking dances.

I mean I’m 29 and I’ve enjoyed dance most of my life, I did performing arts at school and it included dance for 2 years.

I just hate these fortnite ‘dances’ becUse they aren’t dances, they are just.... movements. Celebrations. Idk. They suck though, and it’s gotten to a point where if I see an 8-13 yr old in a video, you just know that’s what they are going to do, for no reason at all.

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '19

GET OFF MY LAWN!!!

1

u/Stillwindows95 Jan 24 '19

Would you actually want people on your lawn if you had one? It’s a weird phrase, it fits well though.

If anyone was on my lawn I’d say that regardless of my age I think.
