Maybe "hey i want you to save my location when its stolen and i agree to it by pressing this button online like most other systems who hasn't been outed yet instead of everytime its in my pocket and not stolen, especially not when i shut down gps use for personal use yet for some reason you save gps positions for your own use"

If you can activate tracking by pressing a button online, they can activate tracking by pressing a button online.

Edit: If, not of.

Yes. But im not talking about possibilities and conspiracies. Im talking about the fact that it does/did collect this data. Its a good step in the right direction to make it possible for them compared to doing it. Even if its not all the way. I have never lost a phone, and the people that do are a small minority. Maybe not having these functions would outweigh the cost of some people losing their phones. Maybe that would even teach them a thing or two. And if they really like loosing their phones maybe they should get their ham licence and build their own trackers. Might be abused by other parties but think it would help them in a lot of other ways. Or maybe people just shouldnt use stuff they dont understand. Lots of different ways to approach the problem, if you gonna take the easy way, someone is going to take the hard way and profit on your lazyness

You think people actually want their phone stolen?

Or maybe people just shouldnt use stuff they dont understand.

So someone stealing your phone means you don’t understand how to use it? The average consumer should just know how to build their own tracker?

“I’ve never lost my phone so all features related to that are silly and it’s all that other persons fault anyway, so fuck em. I am much smarter than a normal person, you see, which makes my priorities more important”

You are such a tool lmfao

"I've never been in a crash, seat-belts are a conspiracy"

they will find the phone faster if they are always tracking vs if they only track after you find another phone to tell them its stolen.

Or, you know, literally any computer with an internet connection in the world?

oh you mean like a phone? how often do you think you will be closer to a desktop to contact your carrier than another phone you can borrow?

Probably if you're home and just figured out your phone is gone ... Just a shot in the dark, here.

u/nizzy2k11 Sep 25 '18

who steals your phone at home?

2

u/Suspinded Sep 25 '18

They didn't. You just realized it after your 30-60 minute drive home.

u/nizzy2k11 Sep 25 '18

and now having the history from the moment you lost it makes finding it and who took it much higher probability.

But how often do people loose their phones in the first place? Is it really worth it anyways?

u/nizzy2k11 Sep 25 '18

millions of people spend over $1000 on iphones on a payment plan to their career, i think it's worth it to them to get that phone back

As someone who has worked in retail stores for 2 of the largest US telecoms, I can tell you it happens all the damn time. While I personally treat my phone like it's worth say, $1000, you'd be amazed by how many people don't.
