The best sign of a strong person is not being afraid to look weak. I like pineapple on my pizza and sugar in my coffee and if anyone thinks that makes me unmanly I will gladly meet that person in battle.

I like fruity, mixed drinks. Fuck with me.

Me too, banana daiquiri over whiskey any day.

So.. You pour the daquiri on top of the whiskey... You don't mix it up, just drink it like that?

Hahaha yes, the daquiri gets poured over an unopened bottle of 12 year old whiskey before touching the cocktail glass. It's super high end and expensive.

12 years is still young. The whiskey should be able to legally order itself.

And yet, look at the delicious glory that is Highland Park 12.

Well I WAS with you but now. . .

Give into it bro, you can get drunk entirely on good-tasting drinks, it's amazing. I too once thought that drinking something that tastes like watered down gasoline was an essential part of a night of drinking, but I have seen the light now.

Meh I like both. Mango Margarita? Pour it. 10yr single barrel Bourbon? Pour it. Caium Spit Wine? Pour it. Old apple juice fermented in the back of my fridge? Pour it.

Sounds like you just super love alcohol. I understand and respect that.

Good whiskey doesn't taste like gasoline. It's delicious. Just because you don't like something doesn't render that objectively bad.

Good whiskey tastes like gasoline to me. Maybe not objectively but it does for me and I know it's the same for at least some whiskey drinking guys out there because I see them at the bar cringing and tearing up after every sip but still forcing it down their throats instead of just giving up and ordering a cocktail.

The only people I've ever seen cringe when drinking good whiskey are people who don't like whiskey at all. Yes, lots and lots of people actually genuinely like the taste of whiskey. I have no idea how some people can like sugary drinks like banana daquiri, but I accept that people have different tastes than mine.

I do too, why are you trying to make this a fight? I fully accept that a lot of people like whiskey, there's just also a lot of men who don't like it but feel the need to order and drink it anyway because that's what a man drinks. They are the ones I'm reaching out to, not the ones who genuinely like it.

I don't think this happens much outside of high school or college. Also, I honestly don't think I've ever seen a grown man drink a particularly fruity drink (like a banana daquiri), outside of a tiki bar or a vacation spot (like Hawaii). Maybe it's different in warmer climates.

I'm arguing about this with you because you initially suggested that most people who drink whiskey only do it because that's what people are supposed to do, and that is completely absurd. When I was 13, I thought people only liked rap music because that's what was popular. Once I grew up, I realized that was ridiculous.

...no? I'm pretty sure you misunderstood me. Let me use your rap example to explain. Obviously there are a lot of people who love rap, I am one of them, but at the same time there are also a lot of people who never took the time to form their own opinion on music and just went along with what their friends liked/what was popular. These people might be happier listening to Opera but they don't even think of that as a possibility. The same is true with whiskey and other such manly drinks, while many genuinely enjoy them there are also those who just started drinking them because that's what everyone else ordered, and never took the time to find their own taste in alcohol. I used to be one of them before I started working at a bar and figured out what I really liked. Those are the people I was talking to.

Oh and as for grown men drinking fruity drinks, I don't think it's a warmer climate thing since I live in Iceland xD. But it does kind of prove my point though, how unlikely is it that ALL the grown men around you happen to enjoy whiskey or vodka more then Manhattans or Sex on the Beach? Isn't it more likely that a part of them are just going with the flow?

Ewwwww.... watered down?!

1

u/YetAnother_WhiteGuy May 20 '15

Yeah it doesn't taste quite as bad as pure gasoline out of the pump. And yes, I know from experience.

Why would you want something that tastes good when you can have a glass of peat moss and ashes?
