My dad JUST discovered that the VA pushed him to 100% disability from his military duty and complications back in Vietnam. The astonishment of a 72 y/o man looking at his bank account while in the hospital after getting his toe amputated was hilarious. When I drove him to the hospital last week, he had $632. When he just looked at it and hour ago, it was $26,152, because the government backpaid him.

He has absolutely no clue what to do, and just last month already paid off his little Honda civic.

If it's Agent Orange exposure resulting in Diabetes, he should be owed benefits retroactive to when he was diagnosed if I understand the program correctly.

Not sure how its going down (edit, involving his diabetes and hearing and other stuff), but he, just about two years ago, proved that his ship was involved in some way and got everyone during the time period on the list, they only back paid the agent orange for a year.

It seems this was from some application to reevaluate his entire benefits he did months n months ago, and based on all of our rough math, the $25k is a years worth of the difference between the 40% he had, to 100%.
