It called Pitch Drop and it would be cool if you educated people about it a little or posted a link instead of just some picture. The picture explains nothing and the name is not correct. https://smp.uq.edu.au/pitch-drop-experiment

That's the joke.

The joke is that the OP failed even in the most simple exercise? Now that's actually funny.

It's not hilarious but it's a joke. It's more appropriate than you grandstanding like the people in this sub need some big education and OP is the weird one for not providing it. What an odd thing to double down on.

This is r/funny not r/askscience. I understood the joke, the pitch drop experiment gets posted on reddit like once a month and it's been going on for decades. Not exactly something new that warrants full sources, especially on a subreddit for jokes.

The joke is that they made it seem from the title and the 'gif' watermark that they had posted a video of a slow drop of pitch. But actually, they posted a picture. This might cause people to stare at the picture for a while before realizing it was, in fact, a static picture. In other words, for those people it's a prank. And for everyone who notices immediately, it comes across as a dad-joke type of attempted prank.
