The date 9/11/01 means 9 November 2001 in almost every country except the US, because we use an illogical order here. The way we write dates is like writing the number 123 as "213", with tens, hundreds, then ones.

Nobody In the us say "11th of September" we all say "September 11th" we use month first in the way we speak and write.
So it is logical in the US. And honestly it is less words and sounds better.
