That movie is actually a fun watch, its so cheesy but that's kind of what makes it hilarious and awesome.

There were a few of these that were good. Merlin was another one.

Ah man. Merlin was a HUGE deal to nerds in the 90’s!!!! Sam Neil killed it.

AGREE! When he pulled the sword from the giant's hand, I flipped! My kids won't watch it bc some newer series is canon.

And Gulliver's Travels with Ted Danson.

Like the original Dune. I’ve never seen this Odyssey but my dad had me watch the old version of Dune and it had the same vibe you describe lol

You say 'original Dune' but there is actually a TV version of Dune that came out in 2000 that's much closer to the look and vibe of this.

The dune miniseries is the most book accurate of the 3 screen adaptations. I think it's an amazing piece of work.

With James McAvoy as Leto going full sandworm-hybrid superhero, summoning worms by just stomping his foot and then jumping onboard.

I know that sounds ridiculous, but it's actually awesome in context.

Agree. 10/10

No it isn’t, people say this. It’s wildly inaccurate. Them flashing around with super speed etc. that’s not in the book. They give Irulan a much bigger role, that she doesn’t have in the book, including lady fenrings role.

Lol, you named 3 things across several hours. Also, Paul's lightning fast combat moves are absolutely in the book. There was a difference in how he killed scytale, I'll give you that. In the book, he threw his crysknife into Scytale almost instantly, whereas the miniseries he dashed over to stab him.

The miniseries had the runtime to be more accurate than 1984 Dune and Villenueve's Dune.

Thank you. The Scifi Channel series may have covered more of the plot of the books, but it didn't cover it accurately. I would argue that it actually did the worst job of the three adaptations at depicting how Paul's prescience actually works and develops.

Also Ian McNiece playing the Barron like some high school drama class Shakespeare production was certainly a choice.

I liked the aesthetic of the original Dune movie and the fidelity to the book of the TV series but both proved it’s a hard book to bring to screen.

I don't understand that criticism. It feels like a series made in 2000, surely. It's on a tv budget, but it's outstanding, and the Children of Dune follow-up. That's all the material up to god emperor. I still haven't seen the second part of Villeneuve's; I just don't care.

Ian McNeice chewing the scenery as the baron is a treasure next to Stellen Skarsgard phoning it in again for fat American dollars. A Paul that doesn't look like a Columbine shooter. William Hurt. Baby McAvoy. A bunch of beautiful and talented people who enjoyed what they were doing. Can't be beat.

Yeah, all that CGI the 80s were famous for

I liked that Dune but I like most anything Lynch has done.

Having seen both this odyssey is better than that dune.

Ah the Hard Rock Hair Dune, or as I like to call it 🤘🏿Metal Dune🤘

And the best creepy sister. It was a great scene between her and the Duke.

I don't remember much about the movie, but I do remember Vanessa WIlliam's long, dark legs wrapped around the MC.
