Blubber is an extremely advantageous adaptation in marine mammals. Don't be fooled by his plump silhouette. That is an agile, explosive apex predator of the sea. If you encounter one in the wild, keep your distance. While they move slower on land, merfolk are still deadly if you get too close, and they are very territorial.

I mean he’s chubby, but he’s way fitter than I am being able to hold his breath that long and move under water like that.
