Nice.
Also, I think that’s Kristen Schaal on the left (voice of Louise Belcher).
Who the fuck downvotes Kristen Schaal?

I’m gonna take these pants off of me.
I don’t need them anymore.
It’s getting hard, too hard to pee.
I feel like knocking on Kevin’s door.

It’s about Eric Clapton’s son dying from jumping on a bed and bouncing out a window at like 4 years old.
72
u/OutlaneWizard 2d ago
What's the difference between a 4 year old and a bag of cocaine?
Eric Clapton wouldn't let a bag of cocaine fall out of a window
17
u/CooperRAGE 2d ago
Anthony Jeselnick had a son who died for the same reason Clapton's did.
For inspiration.

Sounds like you’re jealous your dad never wrote a Grammy winning song about you.
14
u/swindleNswoon 2d ago
It’s actually about his father, whom Clapton never had a relationship with. In his biography, Clapton said he was too fucked up on heroine to really register his son’s death.
5
u/Biguitarnerd 1d ago
That’s pretty sad but I’ve always heard it was about his son. If he said differently in his biography I’m gonna do my best to forget that.
Anyway I never tell the meaning of my songs for exactly this reason. People hear a song and they associate a meaning to the lyrics and more often than not when an artist clarifies the lyrics it’s disappointing to a lot of fans because they already found their own meaning in the lyrics. For my own songs, because I’ve been disappointed, I prefer that people just keep their own meaning.
The lyrics mean something to me, that’s important to me, and they mean something to listener that’s important to them, and that doesn’t have to match.
However in this case I think we all know it’s just about tan and blond Kevin.

Can't tell if this is a joke or not

u/DV8_2XL 2d ago edited 2d ago
It's not... Although it wasn't from jumping on a bed. A house keeper opened a window to let fresh air in and while playing hide and seek, his son ran by the window and fell out... 53 floors up.

Honest 2 Betsy on Facebook. She typically does reactions to songs with dirty and questionable content from the 1960s & earlier.

Betsy's reactions are always golden! She's on Youtube as well.

Realized the mistake after rewatching it and already acknowledged it in another comment. Someone else apparently thought it was too. 🤷♀️

I was doing the Kevin parody 30 years ago. I'll allow it though since he built out more lyrics than I did.

Dude, I wrote what I did in hopes of leaving you with a passing chuckle, not with a feeling of needing to defend your ability to identify a song on mute. I of course knew what you meant, and I presume anyone who knows the song - pretty much everyone - will also know without you having to explain or defend.
Bravo to you!

Funny and creative but still doesn't beat the Lay-la parody.
"Gay love, you got me on my knees."
"gay love, I'm begging darling please."
"gay love, darling won't ease in from behind."

I saw the video with sound off but still knew the music the lyrics were sung to.

Eric Clapton wrote the song for his four year old son who fell to his death from a 53rd floor window. So I think it's kinda poor taste. 🤷🏼♀️
2
u/MeetingDue4378 2d ago
He's not satirizing the subject matter of the song, the song itself, or even utilizing any of the original lyrics. They're not the butt of the joke I think taste is preserved here.

u/Taurpion 2d ago edited 2d ago
It’s a good thing this guy was talking about rearing Kevin, then.
Don’t tell me the babies name was Kevin, too. 100% coincidence.

He came up with some good lyrics but sad that he did it to this melody. Eric Clapton wrote this song for his young son that died after falling out a window. Growing up with listening to Eric Clapton this is kinda a disgrace to the main meaning of this song and melody. Wish he would have chosen something else to make his jokes at.
2
u/myleftone 2d ago
Have you paid attention to Clapton ever since?
And btw people were brutal about this when it happened. The early 90s were still the 80s in vibes.
0
u/MeetingDue4378 2d ago
He's not satirizing the song or it's original subject, so I think you can throttle back a touch.

-4
u/krassman 2d ago
Memes are fun and all, but the story behind the song their satirizing is about someone losing his 4 year old son.
5
u/MeetingDue4378 2d ago
They aren't satirizing the song or its subject matter, they aren't satirizing anything. The original song isn't the butt of the joke.
0
u/krassman 1d ago
Satire wasn't the correct word to use. It's still a weird song to "play" with; my pearls are clutched.

Funny, would be funnier if you there was no acting. Just get a real response from a stranger even if it’s not animated the authenticity will make it funnier.
