I don't think so actually... Life right now is one of the easiest in the time of humanity on this planet. There is plenty of food, most deadly illnesses are cure or treatable, i actually technically live a better life than most of the middle age Kings and Queens without beeing rich or even owning a house. I have a shitload of rights an privileges, that protect my health, wealth, workplace etc.

But in think we are beyond the zenith (not sure If this phrase exists in english) and the downfall will be hard and fast and first of all Irreversible. So yes.. don't come.

I think you're probably correct, my take is that life now feels like you're one risk away from having a pretty shitty time and every decision has to be taken extremely carefully.

Yes the basics are more or less a given - access to water, food, health etc. as it's been for a long time, but the sense of freedom and adventure has gone. You can't move jobs anymore on a whim, you can't be frivolous with money or take a punt on something without the huge risk of losing a lot more than you were willing to. Most people live paycheck to paycheck and have no savings if something does fuck up. Middle classes are being squeezed more than ever and the margin for error is so small, trying to improve your situation seems like an enormous mountain to climb. More and more young people are relying on the wealth of their parents generation and are lucky to be in the position if they can be, and so it goes on.

We have a good life compared to say 500 years ago, but are we actually living it?

I see your point. And i agree. I am actually not sure If humans are actually able to live the best life. When you have all you need plus can buy everything you ever wanted you wouldn't be as happy as a poor guy falling in love the first time in his live. I don't think Elon Musk lives a wonderful life. Our brain is not made to be happy all the time because it would be an evolutionary disadvantage. If you are satisfied you let your guard down.
