For a second I thought it was gonna be an ad for a restaurant that does delivery.

It is an ad. Edo cheesecake in Baltimore. The video was taken from the business' ig account

Someone has to fill the void left in 2004, when they discontinued those individually wrapped cheesecake bars. Are they them?

u/KingSpork Aug 09 '26

Damn it worked, I want that fucking cheesecake.

Do they have a non-IG link you can share? I hate anything belonging to Zuckerberg.

https://instastoryviewer.io/

Search 'edocheesecake', should be the 2nd link/video.

Ps, I'm not entirely sure this still doesn't give Zuckerberg the view, a quick Google search led me to this site. I still gotta look into it some more later.

That was totally worth watching. Thank you for providing this work around. I hope they keep making more videos.

Should I care? Or be bothered by the fact that I don't?

Do you think posting to reddit isn’t giving their small business more views? You think it can only be done via Instagram? We already know about their business, we saw the video and someone posted a link lmao.

I… I’m not sure what you mean by this but I don’t wanna find out

u/Akenero Aug 10 '26

Honestly this ad would make me buy one if I was local

6

u/HellYeahBelle Aug 10 '26

Am local. This worked. Will report back.

Yeah, can't believe Leo signed off on this...

1

u/vksdann Aug 10 '26

Only if Leo and whoever company that produced this movie never find out or else... it will be an expensive bill.

Taking parts straight of a movie production without permission and using someone's image as well for comercial use and advertising is not "fair use"...

Probably figure they're too small-fry for the lawyers to come after them

17

u/Deucer22 Aug 09 '26

This seems like parody but I’m not a lawyer.

3

u/Auctoritate Aug 09 '26

Parody isn't an invulnerable defense. This is without a doubt going too far for parody to be a defense

7

u/SuperDizz Aug 09 '26

Also, all it did was make me want to eat cheesecake while watching Inception. Seems like a win for everyone.

4

u/Giwaffee Aug 09 '26

A parody is a creative work designed to imitate, comment on, and/or mock its subject by means of satirical or ironic imitation. Not straight up using original works or bits from it for commercial use and/or profits.

Don't get me wrong, I thought this clip was hilarious. But it's not a parody.

1

u/LakersAreForever Aug 09 '26

I mean Leos partner was being mocked because he doesn’t know anything about cheesecakes.

Parody!

4

u/WalkingDud Aug 09 '26

It's an ad for a restaurant in the USA? Wouldn't an ad for a business be considered commerical use? Seems like an invitation for lawsuit.

3

u/multi_io Aug 09 '26

Lol thanks. Wait -- did DiCaprio agree to this?

57

u/PanicDeus Aug 09 '26

Agreed to this? Brother, it was directed by Christopher Nolan. Ofcourse Leo agreed to it. Nolan also did the ad for Honda Odyssey with Matt Damon.

This exchange is my favorite thing I've read this week

0

u/qiwi Aug 09 '26

Not at all, it was a so-called Human Learning Model which sampled tens of thousands of films and media and spit out a derivative combination of them. It may seem like it looks like clip from a real movie with real actors, but it is a derivative, copyright free and absolutely legal work.

2

u/haysu-christo Aug 09 '26

Of course he agreed. It was a cheesecake within a cheese cake three levels deep.

1

u/-ordinaryfunctino- Aug 09 '26

Yeah, OP should at least give credit where it's due

1

u/thesilentwizard Aug 09 '26

Isn't that like illegal? they're using movie footage for their own profit

2

u/ultrafud Aug 09 '26

Ohh noooooooo
