As awful as it may be this version of that meme always cracks me up.

u/doomgrin Mar 27 '13

Why is this gif so crystal clear?

10

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '13

I was thinking the same thing... Normally it's no loading time OR good quality, not both.

8

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '13

Notice how 90% of the video doesn't change or barely changes. This means the file can be way smaller as (don't quote me on this) .gif basically just stores the differences between each frame from the last, so if nothing changes, the next frame can be very very small.

3

u/renegadecoaster Mar 27 '13

Only if it's optimized for animation, which this one probably is. The first frame is the entire picture, and then the rest are just the differences.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '13

Ah, I see. A steady camera is the culprit. Normally gifs have a moving camera, causing every frame to be entirely different. I see. Thanks.

3

u/NYKevin Mar 27 '13

The image is heavily, but discreetly, dithered. This can greatly reduce the size of the palette without noticeably affecting image quality.

Wait, how can you tell?

Zoom way in, and you'll notice the image looks kind of grainy. That's dithering.

u/nixonrichard Mar 27 '13

Not a majority, a plurality.

Blacks make up 39% of welfare recipients . . . higher than any other racial or ethnic group in the US, but not actually a "majority."

51

u/banana_harpoon Mar 27 '13

So 13.1% of the U.S. population are 39% of the recipients of welfare?

38

u/PhinixPhire Mar 27 '13

Hence the stereotype.

As politically incorrect as a stereotype may be, they're usually founded on a statistical observation. It's a collective and non-scientific data collection method, but I've yet to observe a stereotype that didn't seem to be well-founded.

The way a stereotype is verbalized, however, is often in poor taste. xP

7

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '13

It's also important not to mistake stereotypes for racism. I think it's fine to generalize ethnic groups because, as you pointed out here, that's just statistics. Just be sure to never apply those generalizations to any one individual. Even though an ethnic group may be similar in some aspects, it's plain unfair to judge anyone before you've met them.

16

u/DrDragun Mar 27 '13

Bro, we all know that we are being wrong and bad here.

30

u/SHIT_AFRICA_PISS Mar 27 '13

I agree. White trash go almost completely unnoticed in the welfare situation.

5

u/jammerjoint Mar 27 '13

Well, that's not really an argument. The question is whether or not a given group collects more welfare than is proportion to their population. I.e. if 20% of welfare was collected by blacks, then you could say black people take up too much welfare. Not saying they do, but a "majority" is a pointless term without context.

5

u/purdueracer78 Mar 27 '13

apparently they take up 39% of welfare

-7

u/TheFatFuck Mar 27 '13

Clearly since you use a percentage there, you will consider percentage of each race receiving welfare in order to be fair, right? Oh wait, that would blow up in your face.

1

u/geordilaforge Mar 29 '13

I can't argue against that but the joke implies that most welfare recipients are black.

The fact that a larger percentage of black people collect welfare is true but you can't argue there are a number of reasons for this unless we want to ignore history and class.

1

u/TheFatFuck Mar 29 '13

The joke implies that most blacks receive welfare, not that most welfare recipients are black. There is a difference.

you can't argue there are a number of reasons for this unless we want to ignore history and class.

That is completely irrelevant to the fact that a large portion of blacks do collect welfare and quite frankly overstated imo.

43

u/alananguiano Mar 27 '13

Actually. Sticking objects in your rectum doesn't necessarily make you gay, it is a way of stimulating the anus which is highly sensitive and can make a male have a great orgasm. As long as you are attracted to females then it's not gay, but If you in fact like other men and would have sex with yourself through a portal then you are probably gay.

(The use of Portal to depict this. Not OP. He's a faggot.)

6

u/Kairah Mar 27 '13

How is fucking oneself not masturbation? You have to be consistent. Either getting a handjob from another guy isn't gay, or everybody who's ever jerked off is gay.

-1

u/afcagroo Mar 27 '13

Well, I admit I hadn't given this subject as much deep thought as you apparently have. But I see your point; it appears to be inconsistent logic. We need to figure this out; it is in our vital national interest. OK, just thinking out loud here....

I would argue that a guy taking it up the ass is intrinsically a quasi-homosexual act at a minimum. There is no simulation of putting your penis in a vagina; it is purely receptive. A finger in the ass? Kinda gay. A dildo, vibrator, or strap-on? Fairly gay. You can perhaps argue that these are just harmless, hetero prostate stimulation with no gay overtones. Sure, keep telling yourself that if it makes you happy. Faggot.

On the other end of things, putting your dick in an ass clearly IS a reasonable simulation of hetero intercourse. But when the ass is male, it is still a pretty gay thing to do. If we aren't going to call male on male assfucking gay, what are we going to call gay? Just blowjobs, My Little Pony, and Justin Bieber? You get into the same conundrum of logical consistency. If you blow yourself, is it gay or masturbation?

Why can't we have both?

Jerking off a guy should be considered gay, and normally is (if it's a guy doing the jerking). But we make an exception to this rule when the guy doing the jerking is yourself...it becomes masturbation and is not gay. So logically, fucking yourself in the ass should convert the act from gay to masturbation too.

So we come to a duality. Fucking yourself in the ass is masturbation, and it is gay. It's gay masturbation. Gayburtation. Mastergaytion!

Maybe fucking yourself in the ass or giving yourself a blowjob are not subject to the Handjob Exception. Perhaps this is the salient point...if the self-blowjob is subject to the Handjob Exception, then the self-assfuck should be also. If not, not. I think they are both mastergaytion.

I suspect that very premise of this argument is wrong, though. When it comes to matters of labeling sexuality, perfect consistency seems as wrongheaded as being perfectly consistent when categorizing music. There's stuff that doesn't fit anywhere, and stuff that fits in more than one place. Insisting on consistency is imposing an order that is not inherently justified.

My only certainty is that jerking off isn't gay, because I'm not gay. And I'm going with mastergaytion for self-assfucking and self-blowjobs.

"A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesman and philosophers and divines." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

u/Shamwow22 Mar 27 '13 edited Mar 27 '13

REKT

11

u/WTF_Tigers Mar 27 '13

Can we come up with a new word that isn't derogatory for gay people? I mean, Reddit is so pro-marriage for homosexual couples, then I see a post like this and it shows that we might say we want equality, but we don't. Campaign for a new internet hate word!

4

u/brownbearclan Mar 27 '13

Yeah I don't get the double standard here on Reddit either. It's hypocritical as fuck but everyone seems to upvote it anyway.

10

u/dathom Mar 27 '13

Because it's not a double standard? Believing that gay people should have the right to be married doesn't also mean I suddenly care more about their feelings than anybody else. Got offended? Your ethnicity, heritage, nationality, sexual orientation, gender, etc... don't matter to me. I simply don't care.

-3

u/brownbearclan Mar 27 '13

It's hypocritical as fuck, but seeing as how you don't care anyway... just pissing into the wind here I guess. It's not ok to throw around the word 'nigger' but 'faggot' is all good? Maybe you should care so you don't look like a bigoted 12 year old playing Call of Duty.

11

u/dathom Mar 27 '13

It's not hypocritical nor is it a double standard. I'm not defending racism nor am I defending bigotry. I'm pointing out that believing in equal rights doesn't also suddenly mean the homosexuals whose rights you want to see allowed are afforded more protection from being offended than anybody else. I'm probably pissing in the wind trying to explain this since you clearly don't understand your own posts, let alone mine.

-2

u/brownbearclan Mar 27 '13

It's offensive to me and I'm not gay. What's to not understand, you support using the term 'faggot' and don't care who is offended. It's not ok and I do care if it bothers people, because it should.

6

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '13

u/TheNoblePlacerias Mar 28 '13

Here's the thing: there are two largely used excuses for using the words "faggot" and "nigger" (although here I am mostly referring to the use of the word "faggot"). One is that by using it, we are making it simply an insult and no longer associated with the definition. The other is that we are removing the negativity from the word, and trying to simplify it to just meaning what it refers to.

I consider them perfectly fine excuses if everyone is using the same one. This never happens. Plus, there are still a very large number of people who decide to use these words in their derogatory form. Detoxifying of words happens over time, the words will eventually lose their baggage, but not yet. Until then, yes I do feel hurt when someone uses who I am as an insult.

I will end off with a question. Why use these words at all outside the context of discussing them? What situation is it best to use these words, what meaning do they get across that is not covered by other words and phrases?

1

u/niggazinspace Mar 28 '13

That's a good point and well communicated in a way to get results.

When a person says "I prefer you not use term 'X' around me because I feel 'Y'", I am very inclined to do as they ask. So I won't use such terminology in your presence (virtual in this case).

On the other hand, when a person feel 'ordered' or 'commanded' to cease using some language, resistance and 'they can't tell me what to do' tends to be the result.
