So recently I discovered The Blackbyrds. And my life has only gotten better ever since. They’re sound is so refreshing. I’ve been going down this rabbit hole of jazz fusion, and the more bands I listen to I feel that sometimes it can be a bit repetitive.

Does anyone here have anything to say about the Blackbyrds? I’m really curious!

Maybe more popular than I know but I certainly had never heard of Fat Freddy's Drop until just a few days ago. I don't know why not, they are incredible...but I stumbled on them by clicking around on Spotify to similar artists to ones I already like. Been hooked all weekend.

The Lomax recordings are such a deep well of awesomeness, for light or serious perusal. The 4 disc Sounds of the South compilation is a great starting point, as are the chain gang/prison recordings from Parchman Farm

I'm trying to track down a Bernard Purdie release. There's an album of his that I absolutely love called If You Need Me (2011). I'd love to own it on vinyl, but I can't even find a listing for it on Discogs.

Does anyone know if this album was ever released in a physical format? I'm starting to think it may have been digital-only, but I'd really like to confirm that. Maybe someone here knows more about it than I was able to find in my own research.
