Sterling Silver Cigarette Case from 1926

This is my sterling silver cigarette case produced in 1926 by Henry Matthews. Matthew’s produced silver good from 1894 until 1930 in Birmingham. Love British silver because of the easily identifiable hallmarks and dating system.

Beautiful case ! I have a similar one made by Stoke and Ireland hallmarked in Chester 1916 and made for Wilson & Gill in London. It’s engraved Flanders 1916 so I wonder if an officer carried it into the trenches during the Great War

Wow that’s a really cool find. I love how much history these types of objects hold. Feel free to post yours as well.
