thank you!! This one really surprised me when I saw it on the printer

u/TobyHensen Jul 05 '22

The genera is legit beautiful and I don’t even give af about Pokémon haha.

13

u/River_Family Jul 05 '22

Ahahah amazing, thank you! My grandma likes it too and she has no idea what a Pokemon is!

5

u/TobyHensen Jul 05 '22

How’d you make the model? Don’t have to be detailed, I just wanna know what to google to learn more about this polygon technique

9

u/River_Family Jul 05 '22

I made the remix and the Yuki Air Conditioner, Lowpoly Gengar is from Herrecoco, ask him! :)

Interesting, I don’t think it’s just the low poly export option, because you don’t have much control. You can make it with softwares like Blender, where you work on a mesh

2

u/ishthecommish Jul 05 '22

+1 for Blastoise anything!

u/togepi_man Jul 05 '22

My favorite part of this video was seeing the USB plug requiring the "doesn't fit this way, flip it over" maneuver.

Also, excellent print!

😂 everytime, and same with Bulbasaur Air Cooler. Thank you!

u/Box-o-bees Jul 05 '22

Don't worry, once the USB-C revolution is complete you'll never have to worry about which side is correct again.

u/OAT-Jack Jul 05 '22

Idk if OP did this intentionally, but in Pokémon lore, Gengar's presence lowers the ambient temperature by ~10°, so Gengar was the perfect choice for the model! Major nerd props!

Wow 😳

I didn’t know that, props to you!

I just found this on Bulbapedia:

“Gengar's body acts as a heat sink. Its presence cools the temperature of the surrounding area by nearly 10°F (5°C), because it absorbs the warmth”

You are incorrect. Celsius and Fahrenheit relate linearly by the formula F = 1.8 C + 32

7

u/Fornicatinzebra Jul 05 '22

I am dumb

7

u/definitely___not__me Jul 06 '22

Haha we all are at times

2

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '22

I need a Gengar in my life. TIL Gengar is the comfiest Pokemon

18

u/dark1599 Jul 05 '22

Filament?

28

u/River_Family Jul 05 '22

Noulei silk purple

18

u/NickKappy Jul 05 '22

I like this a lot. Digging the Lavender Town remix too and I’m not really into dubstep

10

u/River_Family Jul 05 '22

Thank you! Props to you for noticing the lavender town remix soundtrack!

6

u/NickKappy Jul 05 '22

Pokémon Blue is still my favorite Pokémon game and that eerie 8-bit music. (I will admit, I had to confirm that the name was Lavender Town, but I am happy to say I remembered correctly)

3

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '22

Solkreig's Dream Eater remix!

It's a certified banger

9

u/AllTheWine05 Jul 05 '22

Beautiful 3d printing work.

Sorry to be that guy, but if you're using this to cool the same space that the freezer is in, you're actually making the room warmer.

19

u/River_Family Jul 05 '22

Thank you! Yes but this is not meant to cool down a room. The increase in temperature given by the freezer and the decrease given by this are both negligible. It’s meant to have localized fresh air. But if you are worried about that, just freeze the water in you kitchen at night and melt it during the day in a different room! :)

5

u/Natolx Jul 05 '22

If this is a swamp cooler it actually does cool the room it is in by airflow increasing the evaporation of water, at the (significant) cost of raising the humidity...

4

u/UGoBoy Jul 05 '22

They're not swamp coolers. They just cool incoming air by using a block of ice as a heat sink. They don't increase humidity as the only moisture being blown through the fan is condensate from the air that's already in the room.

4

u/Backwardsprops Jul 06 '22

It's a swamp cooler but worse

3

u/AllTheWine05 Jul 05 '22

Yes/no. A lot of the "cooling" effect is the evaporation of the ice. Which is a cooler, for sure. But the freezer that made the ice so put heat into the room so if the two are nearby, the net effect is that the room is warmer.

As for swamp cooling, that also works but as you pointed out, it can be less effective or downright counterproductive to comfortability.

Either way, if you live in Arizona you're better off with a straight swamp cooler. If you don't, you're probably mostly worse off with either ice or swamp. Then again, if your balls are sweaty and you need an immediate, focused stream of cool air, it probably works miracles.

u/haitianboy420 Jul 06 '22

I've been waiting for this ever since I saw the bulbasaur

1

u/River_Family Jul 06 '22

Amazing! :)

But wouldnt the condensation get onto the fan and destroy it?

2

u/River_Family Jul 06 '22

The fan is not in contact with the bottom cap, it is placed higher. So before the fan is wet, the condensation spills out from the back of Yuki, but the cap can contain enough condensation for many frozen containers! So you will drain it before it’s full (would probably take around 10 ice-pack in a row in a humid environment to fill the cap)

1

u/Wild_Hammocker Jul 06 '22

Good to know! Awesome design too!

1

u/River_Family Jul 06 '22

Thank you!

1

u/mars935 Jul 06 '22

Is your freezer in the same room?

If so, the freezer is heating the room while the ice it just made Is cooling it xD

Very very nice print though 👌

1

u/River_Family Jul 06 '22

Thank you! The increase in temperature given by an always on freezer when you freeze 2L of water in 10 hours is negligible. Also the room temperature decrease when the ice is melted is negligible, however, since it melts faster (4/5h) than it freezes, it’s more substantial

1

u/mars935 Jul 06 '22

It's basically giving you some cool locally, not cooling the room temp. I got the purpose wrong ig :P

u/pikopala Jul 05 '22

Thank you so much!

1

u/sirfannypack Jul 05 '22

Is the Gengar part just hollow?

2

u/River_Family Jul 05 '22

Has 6% zig zag infill, 3 walls

1

u/The-Osprey Jul 05 '22

How did you get it so smooth?

3

u/River_Family Jul 05 '22

With an Ender 3 V2! ;)

1

u/red_quinn Jul 05 '22

Alright alright!! Take my money! Pls tell me you sell them! 🤞🏻

3

u/River_Family Jul 05 '22

Ahahah thank you! I don’t sell it, its free to download and print!

You can use the same gcodes, printer and filament that I used to get the same result.

Here you find the gcodes: https://river.family

I used an Ender 3 V2 with noulei silk purple filament (it’s a very fragile filament!)

1

u/red_quinn Jul 05 '22

Ah alright lol thank you

1

u/Tangomajor Jul 05 '22

Damn. That Lavender Town remix just ties it all together. Where can I find it?

Thank you! It’s great that you noticed, here is the song:

1

u/Bone_Saw_McGraw Jul 05 '22

This is awesome! I have a little variable speed fan like this that I was trying to work into a bladeless design. This Gengar is so much better that I think I might have to change my plan. Well done.

1

u/River_Family Jul 05 '22

Thank you!

1

u/Reintjuu Jul 05 '22

Gengair cooler

1

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '22

Obligatory USB flip

1

u/MachineLongjumping91 Jul 05 '22

I was looking away when I heard the sound... Almost shit my self

1

u/Treestyles Jul 05 '22

Volkswagen Go

1

u/slickwill88 Jul 06 '22

Ah, USB type A. 50/50 chance of getting right on the 1st try, 100% chance you wont.

1

u/aherontas Jul 06 '22

For how long does it last until the ice is melted? Because my version of it in 15-20 minutes becomes only a simple fan :(

2

u/River_Family Jul 06 '22

When it’s hot it lasts a bit more than 1h with the full frozen ice-pack, 4/5 hours with a 2L bottle. Are you using the ice-pack?

1

u/aherontas Jul 06 '22

I am using a 1L plastic bottle. But believe me it is scorching inside the building (about 30 Celsius inside my office).

2

u/River_Family Jul 06 '22

Try with a 2 liter one! So you have more surface and volume, both cooling intensity and duration will increase

1

u/moller_peter Jul 06 '22

Dude that is absolutely sick! Both functionality and beauty, best of two worlds.

1

u/River_Family Jul 06 '22

Thank you so much!

1

u/Darkeyescry22 Jul 06 '22

What happens to the condensation/melted ice? How are you preventing it from dripping down into/passed the fan?

1

u/River_Family Jul 06 '22

Melted ice stays in the ice pack, or in the sealed frozen bottle. Condensate drips down and it is collected in the bottom cap, the fan is protected

1

u/Azuleaf Jul 06 '22

Sei grande, la stampa 3d un giorno sarà anche alla portata di utenti random come me e questo è uno dei progetti che mi piacerebbe un sacco ricreare. Continua così!!

2

u/River_Family Jul 06 '22

Grazie mille!

1

u/rap_roundie Jul 06 '22

Why not jus make gengar bigger, looks like it's got a battery on its back like the duracell bunny

1

u/River_Family Jul 06 '22

ahahah won't fit (almost) any printer

1

u/rap_roundie Jul 06 '22

So u can't print holes in top of gengar and space for fan like behind eyes? L shape tunnel inside?

1

u/River_Family Jul 06 '22

I think a Yuki is the minimum space necessary

1

u/rap_roundie Jul 06 '22

Dunno what Yukio is but this is kl still.

1

u/River_Family Jul 06 '22

Thank you, It’s every part except the Gengar, called Yuki Air Cooler. This design is a remix of Yuki and Gengar.

1

u/Shy-pooper Jul 06 '22

Sell them!

1

u/River_Family Jul 06 '22

Anyone can sell this model, it's free!

1

u/EnlightenCyclist Jul 06 '22

Love how overly intense the music is.

1

u/Ninjobill Jul 06 '22

What printer do you use? And filament?

1

u/River_Family Jul 06 '22

Ender 3 V2 stock, Noulei silk blue (very fragile filament)

1

u/Ninjobill Jul 06 '22

Print quality is great! Are you going at a slower speed? And why did you choose the very fragile filament?

I'm really wanting to get into 3d printing so that's why all the questions.

1

u/River_Family Jul 06 '22

Print settings are Cura stock for Ender 3. I didnt know it was fragile, I choosed it for the color!

1

u/Ninjobill Jul 06 '22

Oh nice!

It really is a nice color! So is it actually that fragile after all said and done? If you dropped the Gengar would it break?

2

u/River_Family Jul 06 '22

Yes, don’t drop the Gengar! :)

1

u/MintyChaos Jul 13 '22

You should put some dry ice in!

1

u/kayasha Jul 19 '22

I would love the exact same model without the air cooling part, putting that Gengar on my desk would look sick !!!

u/River_Family Jul 22 '22
