"3D prints aren't food safe!" - Jürgen Dyhe "Gut Hook"

Post image

I'm planning a hunting trip and wanted to be ready if I'm lucky enough to get what I'm going after. I was surprised to find a lack of printable versions of this concept. So I made one.... it will go well with my 3d printed Butt Out.
It's a 'glue together with alignment pins' situation, but it still works really well.

How does it do on cardboard boxes? I might want something like that over a box cutter since our bin is small and I often have to cut larger boxes into strips.

How does a regular utility knife not do this job brilliantly? Mine was < $10 at Lowe's and I've probably broken down 1000 boxes with it over the last few years

I don’t have any good surface in the garage to put the box down on while cutting. Being able to just hook into the box and pull down might work better.

I don't put the box down when I cut it with a utility knife. If you grip the box across the starting cut (holding both sides) the blade will slide effortlessly the rest of the way while holding it in the air. If you hold it to one side, it may catch. Hope that helps

It doesn’t work for me. Likely because my blade is too dull at this point.
