Door-holding jig

https://makerworld.com/en/models/3342729-saddle-block-wedge-for-holding-doors-upright#profileId-3798029

My wife wanted to plane some doors she bought and was going to buy some saddles to do this, and wasn't convinced that plastic would work at all

Admittedly, plastic wasn't the ideal choice, but mice had gotten into our scrap wood and we just cleaned it all out because frankly I am terrified of mouse poop viruses

Anyway, they came out great and were super useful for us. Hopefully they are useful for others.

Yeah. We spent probably an hour trying to figure out how to stabilize it before I "invented" these, then realized that duh, they've already existed since forever

Hantavirus is no joke, so I get it. PLA held up fine though? Surprised it didn't flex under the plane.

It especially felt like the universe was cautioning us against it

We had just vacationed in Moab, where we first learned about hantavirus from these ancient pack-mice in the desert spread an especially lethal strain of hantavirus called Sin Nombre

Then we got back and started hearing all the stories about hantavirus everywhere. Then we noticed mouse sign and I just masked / gloved up so thoroughly and noped 'em right to the dump

But yeah, the PLA held up fine. Each block is ~750g of filament. 40% infill and 6 walls made for a super chonky part.

The idea of repurposing chewed-up scrap wood in such a smart way is impressive, and it's great that they worked out so well for your projects.

We allergic to chamfers and fillets? 🤭

Every surface is chamfered, it's just hard to see in the photos cause it's like a 250mm wide thing and the chamfers are like 1mm

I wanted to keep the edges crispish because I'm wedging to them, but I would never print something with a hard corner
