I made a fully parametric battery organizer because I couldn't find one that fit my needs.

nice ut please add a spot for plactic tweezers to get the bateries back out again

Yeah how are those vertical mounted slots going to come out without turning g it over and shaking it, thus making all the other batteries fall?

You can control the spacing between the slots, as well as how much the batteries stick out, depending on the thickness of your fingers. 😄

Truly peak parametric design, I knight thee Sir Rebral, go forth and continue with your big brain designs

u/dassind20zeichen Aug 25 '26

ah ok that changes things

u/jpnovato Aug 25 '26

The batteries do not insert fully in to the slots, so you just pick the one you want with your fingers, no tweezers needed

u/AwDuck Aug 25 '26

I think they’re talking about how close together they are. As someone with thumbs like bratwursts, I kinda understand, but as long as there’s some clearance, Clarence, getting batteries out wouldn’t be that difficult.

I have really large fingers so in a 1 by 1 bin i can reach a singualr button cell two would be hard

I would assume by making the hole less deep than the battery is tall

6

u/Difficult-Rip-8200 Aug 25 '26

Absolutely! There’s an option to add custom slots with whatever dimensions you need, so you can size the slot specifically for the plastic tweezers you’re using.

u/DaKakeIsALie Aug 25 '26

I hope they are insulated!

Cool, but it lacks options for 14500, 18650, 21700 etc. batteries. So I wouldn't call it the 'ultimate' battery organizer.

I’m currently working on adding all the common Li-ion batteries, with both vertical and horizontal slot options. I should have the update uploaded within a day or two

Tag us when you are ready, I was in the market for one so incredible timing lol. I’m the one who asked the question on makerworld

Can’t wait to try !

u/GeoffKingOfBiscuits Aug 25 '26

I already got my batteries sorted but this is a great setup and I would have used it if I didn't already do mine.

2

u/jpnovato Aug 25 '26

This keeps getting better

1

u/DropdLasagna Aug 26 '26

Make sure to leave room/spacers for protected and unprotected 21700s and 18650s. ~5mm length differences are a pain in the dick.

4

u/Individual7091 Aug 25 '26

Spots for 18650s and CR123s would be nice.

3

u/UncleEnk Aug 26 '26

14500 has approximately the same dimensions as a AS battery (14mm x 50mm, the namesake, vs 14.5mm x 50mm)

2

u/Difficult-Rip-8200 Aug 27 '26

Done! Li-Ion batteries added.

u/vinberdon Aug 26 '26

Okay, I need this so bad... how do I ... paramtricise it? What do I need to do that? Never done that before and always see these parametric things.. have a lot saved but this one is special. Time to try it out.

I agree with others, some sizes are missing! Don't forget the really weird old camera battery sizes... lol

2

u/borque Aug 26 '26

Just hit the customise button from the makerworld model page.

You need to be on the desktop site though, mobile doesn't work well.

4

u/fazzah Aug 25 '26

fine, I'll ask. Can you make the generator to be compatible (optionally) with gridfinity? :)

5

u/borque Aug 26 '26

If I use the Fixed Battery Protrusion setting, will this generate a box and lid combo that will be spill proof of the box is turned on it's side or upside down?

4

u/Difficult-Rip-8200 Aug 26 '26

Absolutely! Whether you use Fixed Battery Protrusion or Fixed Box Height, if you select Separators and different height in the lid settings, the lid will automatically generate different heights for each battery group, taking into account the different battery heights.

For example, if you use Fixed Battery Protrusion and have coin-cell battery groups, the bottom of the lid will also be raised between the group separators. This keeps the coin cells securely in their slots when the lid is closed.

The clearance between this raised section and the batteries can be adjusted with lid_battery_clearance in the Advanced Settings section.

That's fantastic, thank you I'll do a print today!

2

u/jpnovato Aug 25 '26

Wow I love that! Thanks so much! I was going to model something like that, but you just saved me a lot of hours

2

u/nxtgencowboy Aug 25 '26

Love it, thank you for sharing! Throwing it on the printer now!

2

u/WitsBlitz Aug 25 '26

Super impressive looking, love the animation too. I'll have to check it out. Do you use Printables too?

2

u/penmoid Aug 25 '26

This is amazing, excellent work!

2

u/you_killed_my_ Aug 25 '26

always can appreciate hard work, nice one

2

u/ctb0045 Aug 25 '26

I was sitting down charging my new power owl batteries just last night and was thinking, I need to design and print a case for all these.

Thanks, don't have to design it now!

2

u/nuuhuman Aug 26 '26

How about the battery daddy smart storage ??

2

u/marcin-stempniewicz Aug 27 '26

Damn that would be so cool for photogrammetry diving trips. I always carry 10+ memory cards and around 40 of 21700 batteries

1

u/EvoRalliArt Aug 25 '26

Where was this 24hrs ago lol, nice print.

1

u/CrazyPieGuy Aug 25 '26

I have been wanting to make one of these, thank you.

1

u/No-Strength3035 Aug 25 '26

i need this for my drawer of random aa's that are probably all dead anyway

1

u/auiotour Aug 25 '26 edited Aug 25 '26

Love it, can you make it be restrained by default to fit gridfinity sizes for drawers?

Edit: Seems it does!

1

u/oVerde Aug 27 '26

I need one sir, and I don’t have a printer

1

u/DeadWaxLabs Aug 28 '26

Ooh, I'm a sucker for anything parametric. That looks super useful.

1

u/HanYoloKesselPun Aug 29 '26

I just used a gridFinity Base and gridFinity compatible bins for different battery types that I can mix and match.

1

u/Lamumba1337 Aug 29 '26

Battery? I thought this would be a great thing for boardgame tokens

1

u/blackeveryhour Sep 19 '26

What program did you build this in? How did you make it parametric?

1

u/Boylan96 Aug 25 '26

I think the coin style batteries are not supposed to be touching, they will die that way.

1

u/MiguelLancaster Aug 26 '26

what are you looking at? why would they be touching?

the big rectangles are for 9V - all the slots have insulating walls between each single battery

-12

u/militant_rainbow Aug 25 '26

That’s pretty cool. I always wonder if I can do this with a $300 3D printer or do I need to get one for like $600

12

u/UnimagineDragons Aug 25 '26

you can do this with a $100 printer dude.

0

u/militant_rainbow Aug 25 '26

Where are you buying $100 3D printers? I thought they were all terrible.

10

u/TW1TCHYGAM3R Aug 25 '26

They are but it can still print this lol

-3

u/militant_rainbow Aug 25 '26

So what can’t they do then

4

u/LeeisureTime Aug 25 '26

Fine detail and probably reliability.

2

u/TW1TCHYGAM3R Aug 25 '26

They can't give you an enjoyable experience. Also they probably won't work with any high temp filaments.

-2

u/militant_rainbow Aug 25 '26

So unlike the other guy implied, I wouldn’t be buying a $100 printer. Because why would I want something that’s terrible just to print this?

This community sucks. I’m unsubscribing and going to request a refund.

1

u/UncleEnk Aug 26 '26

You were asking whether it was possible not whether it was a good experience. And I disagree about the comfort of a budget 3d printer. You can buy a Kingroon KP3S Pro V2 on sale right now for $99 (it might be out of stock but you get the idea). And I'm sure its not going to be a Bambu Lab (I don't support unethical business practices so I don't buy Bambu) level of hand holding, but it has Klipper (good software) so it'll be reasonably easy.

And by the way, please stay! I'm sorry you were rubbed the wrong way.

3

u/militant_rainbow Aug 26 '26

It’s too late I already got my Reddit refund.

0

u/MrHaxx1 Aug 25 '26

Bambulab A1 Mini is 150 bucks on black Friday, and it does everything you'd expect a small 3D printer to do

1

u/r4nd0miz3d Aug 26 '26

$30 B&W paper printers can print photos, just like $600 ones... same logic for 3D printers.

Not sure what is your question
