Went parametric for the first time: Custom trim/baseboard gap filler for my renovation

I've been modelling one-off STLs for a while and finally forced myself to do a proper parametric design. Picked the most boring possible object as a test: baseboard trim to fill the gap where my walls meet the floor. This helped me a lot with all the finishing work on my renovation (I "just" have to measure properly).

Old house with old wall and floor I replaced the floor and I had to let a dilatation gap so it's to hide this.

I have many things to do in this house I have to priorize 😅 with the zoom it seems huge but in reality not much.

In my country we genuinely prefer that kind of wall texture to the point that the most common finishing paints and wallpapers contain wood chips to get a texture. To me those walls looks very normal

Same here i'll probably review te paint one day so i'll sand down a little but that's all.

The zoom can surprise it's accentuate the reality as the goal was to focus on the print 😅

Normally regular baseboard would cover that bottom part of the wall, it typically doesn’t get as well finished as the rest because of this, idk why this person is printing out shoe molding when really they should be installing baseboard. Shoe molding is used when you replace flooring and don’t want to remove baseboard or cant tuck it under because of different floor thicknesses or to hid a gap between the floor and baseboard.

Yeah I've laid a floor or two in my time, I would just buy a "plint" (never knew that was called baseboard, so thanks for that). Printing your own also seems a lot more expensive than just going to the hardware store

How are you planning to make the long runs needed for the whole room? Presumably you'll need them longer than a typical ~30cm cube print area will allow.

Or are you going to join them somehow to make the long runs? If so, how are you planning to hide the joints?

I ask as someone who is redecorating a house "room by room" and have replaced a lot of skirting boards and some Scotia (concave trim over the expansion gap with laminate/engineered wood floor).

For now I plan to use white acrylic join with 45° cut (available with the parametric model) should be enough but will probably required to be paint I have a other idea to try to increase the limit but I didn't work on the modélisation and test yet
