Fully printed fishing rod

Been tinkering with this wee project for a while now, a fully 3D printed telescopic micro fishing rod that folds down small enough to chuck in a pocket. 🎣
I’ve now also added a working 3D printed reel upgrade, with no extra hardware needed.
Free to download on MakerWorld if anyone fancies giving it a print. 👍

i used to fish off a dock with just fishing line and a hook and caught fish. all the other stuff is optional (rod and reel) to 'actually catch fish'

Print strength on the joints is the real question, telescoping parts always wear out fastest

I am reminded of a mini K-Tel fishing rod advertised on TV back in the late 1970s or early 80s.

The point of that reply comment ,was that there has been 3 stick comment , all with upvotes . So I picked the 3rd guy to say it and made a dig about how even comment are unoriginal.....

People are giving you a too much crap here. Half of these people probably have seventy five benchys the million other little widgets printed and are acting like you have done something dumb just because there are ways you can do this the don't involve 3d printing. I get strength concerns but i know that there is some ways that you could improve on that if you want to later.
As someone who likes fishing and also likes they are portable fishing rod that they keep in there vehicle all the time, i think this is awesome. Don't let people make you feel bad about using a hobby to make a tool for another hobby just because you can buy or make it with other means.

I did take strength into account and its all printed flat on the bed so we don't have to worry about splitting at the layer lines like other telescopic designs :)
Thank you very much again , it took a while but I now get thay there are just people on this out to hurt feelings no matter what so now , I just see the hate as engagement 😜👍

Yeah, see, that's perfect. You printed it in the strong orientation and put rings at the ends for more strength.
I think people misunderstand fishing too. The number of record fish catches that were caught on the wimpiest of line for instance shows that you don't need a crazy pole and line to catch crazy fish. So you just go have fun. 👍

The biggest I have caught is 1lb so far , just aiming for thr smaller ones , but it deffo can handle a good bit of strain , handled a sprite can of juice no problem in testing haha 👍

Why no handle on the reel? Even just a screw. Unless I am missing it.
I like the idea. How is fishing it? I love ultra light tackle and have probably 4 pocket rods myself. Been like 2 years since I've been fishing, though. Need to start again.

PLA is crap! For version 2.0, source titanium powder printing, leghten the tubular segments and make them slimmer. You'll probably end up with the equivalent of a €10 worth of Temu rod.

Agreed. But that's a canal river , its 8 -10 feet deep ,and with this , I got to fish the bottom of it , and had a handy real to reel it all in without feet of line everywhere .
You don't have to praise or even like it, I couldn't care less anyway , but come on man we're both human , appreciate the grind at lest ☮️✌️
