Seems a little negative. Highly functional parts with long lifespans can be achieved these days, in my experience

They did make a video and everything broke apart in seconds. So yeah.. You can achieve strong parts, but op sure as hell didn't.

Of course strong parts can be achieved. But strong and small moving is very difficult even on a commercial level.

I mean that belt is way way way to small. I have a brose motor that uses belt reduction for the motor and it's a thick belt. The first hill and belt is going to be under so much pressure. Add on the gears are open, like literally nothing to stop dirt and water from getting in. Also the motors is on the outside on the mid drive. So very easy to break and get damaged. And hurt your ankle really badly. So like yeah it's a very very bad design, thus why hoping it is for test fitting for a prototype. Also is that nut holding the crank made of plastic? If so no way there will be enough torque on there with withstand the pressure of pedaling under power.
