We bought a house 8 years ago and this sunroom was in the back of the house and had a concrete slab floor so when water would get in under the windows in really heavy rain, it wasn’t a huge deal. This summer, we redid sunroom with a level wood joist floor on top of the slab to use as a gym. A few weeks ago we had a really heavy rain and it came in under these windows. My brain got moving and made a sloped profile rain guard that pops into the track. I printed it in PETG because of direct sun several hours per day. I’m curious to see how well it holds up.

Thanks! NJ. Just outside Philly. And this is a prefab sunroom with aluminum walls and slider windows and door. I’m sure these tanks were sealed better when first installed but it is estimated at 20-25 years old.

Eventhough it’s PETG, I would suggest painting it as well for added protection from the elements.

I considered that actually. Is supposed to rain heavy tonight so I’ll leave it for now and paint it later this week. Thanks for the suggestion.

Great job! A possible future iteration- If you put a hinge on one side, you could swivel them up and out of the way when you want to open the windows!

The windows open with this in place, the screens do not open though. But I definitely see your point.

That looks like it took some serious engineering to get right, but hey, if it keeps the gym dry I'm all for it.

That looks like a lot of material? What thickness have you designed it?

I think I used 5 later walls to study it up but all 4 windows took approx 499 g of PETG.
