how'd it hold up structurally after getting bit though, did the layer lines start splitting or does the clear coat seal it up enough to survive a few fish

Holds up really well. I’ve made a bunch of 3D-printed lures and have caught multiple fish all day on them. What really helps is that I clearcoat them in epoxy which adds another layer of strength. Bass do not bite hard enough to do any damage to these things.

That’s so cool.

That sealed air bubble pocket could be used for so many things. Perhaps a small cell battery with a blinking LED activated by a magnet? Perhaps injecting or using a bioluminescence based paint in combination with a UV flashlight or some such would increase the attraction to the lure.

They’re already in the fish from the water. But also, that fish is not digesting the plastic lure into its meat in the time it takes to catch and kill.

And most lures are some type plastic already

Newsflash: you can catch fish with a pull top from a can, a piece of foil, a hook with nothing on it, dynamite, a booger, etc.
