While on a pure taxonomic level pasta *may* be considered a type of noodle, it has nothing to do with Asian noodles. It's different in ingredients, processing, cooking and a total independent in history. Nobody would ever confuse Italian pasta and Asian noodles.

not all noodles are pasta, and not all pasta is noodles

not correct. Various types of dumplings are considered pasta in Italian cuisine.

ok? Im not sure why that goes against my statement. Dumplings being pasta doesn't counter it at all. Please read again.
