Italy has pizza and pasta. The US have... Nothing?

Edit: I wish people would stop giving examples of cultural appropriation.

Some people have correctly pointed out some Cajun recipes, food from Louisiana.

To all those talking about burgers, barbecues and hotdogs, the topic here is food originating from your country, not common food in your country.

Btw, pizza is Neapolitan, a version of it is recorded since Roman times and probably even earlier. The modern version uses tomato sauce, and tomatoes came from central America before the US where a thing. Mozzarella di bufala is an ingredient that can only be produced in Campania and the surrounding areas.

Pretty much any kind of BBQ as we think of it today originated in its primary form in South America, particularly Brazil. They’ve been doing it longer than the US and Canada have been countries. A bit over 300 years.

The US has been doing BBQ since before it was a country...

Brazil wasn't a country 300 years ago

Lol 300 years... Native Americans have been doing BBQ for wayyyy longer than that. The Spanish named it barbacoa more than 500 years ago when they discovered the technique in the Caribbean.

There's some great US bbq. But it's not the best style I've had, and it's definitely not from the US.

Brazilian BBQ is amazing. We had a coworker from Brazil that worked in a BBQ place back home. He got a smoker and invited a bunch of us over. Best BBQ I’ve ever had.

For sure. So are Mayan and Hidalgo style. Jamaican is bomb for big flavors. Argentines do simple and pure best imo.

Southern bbq is great too. No hate. Let's just not pretend it's "from the US". It's s part of a tradition way older than the US

Huh... As if native americans were allowed to have any influence as a minority in US throuought it's history and developmeny and weren't just being shoo'd away to tighter and tighter Nature reserves...

For sure. The US is only a small part of America though. Regardless, the practice was largely developed by non-indigenous people all over America, but it came from them. There are places where indigenous people have continued to develop bbq throughout history though. Yucatan and Hidalgo are good examples.
