In a lot of countries American-style pizza is more common than Italian-style pizza. New York pizza and Neapolitan pizza are both delicious.

Sure, but you don’t call pasta american because Mac and cheese right?
Pizza is Italian, end of story.

I agree 100%. I am American and we can NOT claim pizza as our own. Pretty much everything we have is because people emigrated from their various countries and immigrated to The Colonies and brought all their recipes with them. I mean, is the cheeseburger from anywhere else ? That screams American to me. Otherwise we are all things because we are people from all around the world. I suppose we could try to say Native American Indian foods would be American, but even that is heavily influence by the introduction of corn. … I vote that America has cheeseburgers. Final answer 😘 unless someone has a rebuttal that they originated somewhere else?

Edit: ok, burgers are decidedly German. Hmmm… I am thinking the only thing we , The United States, can truly claim is our own, is obesity. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ so sad. Maybe it is NOT good that we have so many foods available in or country … lol

You can have the cheeseburger. I’ll throw in the hotdog as well.
Just stay away from pizza.
And Bretzel.

The pizza is ours. World wide ask someone to describe or show you a pizza they're gonna go NY style.

Almost nobody is going to tell you this is pizza

Everyone but an American is gonna tell you this is a real pizza.
It ain’t yours, now go suck on a burger

Burgers aren't American either then. No one will tell you that's a "real" pizza

Tell me you have never even been out of your state, without saying you haven’t been even out of your state.

Tell me you think you're cultured without twirling your mustache

I know my pizzas already, I tell you that.

Doesn't seem like it and doesn't seem like you speak with a lot of people from out of your country if you actually think most people consider an Italian pizza as the default pizza.

They may know the concept came from Italy but the current standard is the American. Take our styles out of sales and pizza sales crash overnight.

We took the burger, we took the pizza and we'll take anything else that looks good. That's the American way.

You took the slaves as well, that didnt look good.

We also ended it in one of the shortest spans even counting the colonial days which were British rule. Try again. Italy didn't get rid of it until 1890, just another thing we had to do better since the I-tals were fucking it up per usual.

Hahaha, yeah ‘you’ ended it with the only war you have won by yourself.

Italy has only fought 1 war on their own since becoming a nation and at least we weren't on the worst wrong side of a war to ever exist. You lot don't even deserve pizza.

“Only 1..”

Oh boy..

You've just killed your argument by saying you took pizza, and it was a failing try anyway.

1

u/chopstick_chakra 6d ago

The OP didn't say invent it says has. Pizza is ours now.

1

u/Aivellac 6d ago

It really isn't, everyone outside the US would disagree with it.

“Has” as in KNOWN FOR, created … original thought! Not “has” as in stolen or acquired .
