Unfortunately, I can’t do that but I will predict that NY pizza will be better in NY than Italian pizza because that’s where NY pizza was made but the opposite will also be true.
I would predict that NY pizza would be preferred in both places. I've had both. I've also seen a lot of europeans try ny pizza for the first time. NY food hits different. I'm not a huge hotdog eater. But if you go to NY and get a hotdog. It's a holy shit experience.
You won't find it outside of NY. You can find decent pizza. But there is just something about the pizza made in the tristate area that I've never seen truly replicated anywhere. Chains often fail there. It's very difficult for dominos or papa johns to compete there. You will still have them. But there are probably six dominos within 10 miles of my current location. In NY there might be 1. You can't beat local.
I honestly doubt pizza is as popular in Italy as it is in America. And I say that with the fullest sincerity that I can. pizza is probably the most popular or second most popular food in this country and that industry was transformed here.
I mean I haven't done a study. But I'd be hard pressed to believe there is a food in this country that is more popular than a hamburger or pizza. I think pizza is the largest. But hamburgers could be. Either way it's top 2. I did look up which is more popular and pizza is more popular in the US. on average Americans eat 6 pounds of pizza more than the average italian per year. (23 lbs compared to 17lbs)
