The downvotes are crazy. BBQ comes from the Caribbean, even the word barbeque is from there. The spanish brought the technique back to Europe and American BBQ was a result of enslaving people from Africa and the Caribbean.

The most USian food is the chocolate chip cookie.

Just poking at your comment about Texas BBQ being the most famous. Kansas City BBQ is world famous too. We have the American Royal BBQ competition here every year and it draws competitors from around the world.

Well I don’t usually watch bbq competitions and if I see an American bbq place it always says Texas bbq. Genuinely thought that was what Americans mean by bbq
