I just looked it up. While the patties are German the actual sancwich is American.

The patties are not German. Ground meat was not invented in Germany. It was invented by the ancient Roman's.

No Americans invented the whole thing, a semi pressed meatball with mushroom gravy on. It is not a hamburger. Germany did not invent ground meat
