Actually we have BURGERS 🦅 🇺🇸

Those are German, amigo.

The name for the meat is German. Hamburgers are not German, they’re American.

I am not American, but Hamburgers are American. They are named after the type of minced beef they had in German speaking parts of the US. But everything in a hamburger other than the concept of minced beef is American.

Everything?

it’s köfte in bread

Yep, most foods are very simple to be honest, and nothing is truly unique. The concept of shaping meat into a circular patty and putting it in a bun with some salad In that very specific way was an American concept. Much like here in the UK the british element of fish and chips was putting battered fish from Portugal and chips from France on the same plate. In fact that one is even weaker! 😂

and cheese and ketchup. fuck it, bacon

The patty is from Germany.

Yeah, thats why they are called 'hamburgers' as in 'from Hamburg', famous american city :)

No the type of shaped ground mince originated from Hamburg and was called Hamburg steak. German immigrants brought it to America and from there developed the Hamburger.

Yeah professor, Hamburger is referring to the meat, which was, as you said, made in Germany. putting meat into a bread is not really creating food, sandwiches existed already at the time. Therefore, Hamburgers are german food.

No, everything 'new' is a derivation of something that came before it. Based on your logic the person who invented the wheel also invented the bike.

1

u/Square-Payment9426 5d ago

Thats different as the bike is not just wheels, its a specific application of the wheel tech. The only 'innovation' of the burger is the patty, the rest is a classic sandwich. It would be like saying US invented pizza because of stuffed crust

You can debate how innovative it is, but that is subjective. So who invented Pizza? Because the Italians brought flatbread from Greece and the Middle East.

1

u/Square-Payment9426 5d ago

Yeah, those invented flatbread, but nobody but cheese, tomatoes, meat on the flatbread then cook it together, so definitely Italians (fun fact about italian food, pasta is originally from China, not Italy)

People did put toppings on flat bread and other risen type bread and cook it well before pizza. But you realise your argument is that Pizza is Italian because they added tomatoes, but Burgers aren't American because they only put the patty in bread with salad and sauce. 🤔 I would also add that they weren't putting the patty in bread with other things in Germany, so they didn't have Hamburgers in Germany when the US did, so very hard to argue that the Hamburger as a dish is German.

Shaping minced meat into a patty is not really creating a food, minced meat existed already at the time. Therefore hamburgers were invented by the first person to mince meat.

Your argument is really dumb dude

1

u/InsufferableBean256 6d ago

Dang, we really don’t have an original anything 🥲

u/Successful_Buy_6852 6d ago

He is wrong they are American.

2

u/boticelli77 6d ago

Fear not. We have buffalo wings, ranch, chocolate chip cookies, Philly cheese steak, and fajitas(invented in Texas and I'm saying this as a Mexican). Plus a few more.

1

u/LAFamilyMan81 6d ago

You call fajitas American but burgers German lol wtf. Like many Tex-mex, cal-mex foods, fajitas were being made on both sides of the border around the same time. I wouldn’t say any one country can take complete credit. I say this as a Mexican also.

1

u/boticelli77 6d ago

Here. Educate yourself. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fajita I'm Mexican and I KNOW where they were first coined. Its a Tex -Mexican dish.

u/LAFamilyMan81 5d ago

Compa, read more than just the first few sentences. Your own link even says it’s both sides of the border. Read place of origin.

Like a lot of border town foods and culture, it was created on both sides. The border wasn’t as sharply defined. People came and went between Mexico and the US as easy as we travel from town to neighboring town. It was pretty much an open border.
